Hey sooo I'm brand new to this forum as my wife and I just picked up a 2020 tacoma sport long bed a few weeks ago after loving my 2019 4runner TRD Pro so much. Now we are looking into purchasing a four wheel camper or some sort of slide on camper (without breaking the bank). Basically what I'm...
Hi All,
Last week I installed my UpTop Overland Bed and Roof Rack. Great Product, Great Prices and great customer service. You can see my Install Pictures on my Blog at https://www.overlandz.com/uptop-overland-bed-roof-rack-install-and-pictures/
A good friend gifted me the 3.3 gallon waterport. While I was trying to put it in a place which had easier accessability than inside the rail, I figured out how to 'hinge' down one of my Victory 4x4 side rack supports and turned it into an overland "shelf." This has worked out great, and I...
When it comes to anything beyond installing AA batteries, I have to admit that I am electrically inept. I have been shocked with low voltage more times than I'd like to admit. So I need help organizing what I need to install my off-road lights. I.e. relays, wiring, relay brackets, etc. Once...
Title says it all. I can't seem to find instructions on how to install the spros vertical mount tray from Powertrays. Anyone have anything handy? It seems pretty straightforward. The two screws into the body near the fender well and the last vertical mount goes down towards the battery tray...
Finally got my last box of stuff from @Victory4x4 . They did a great job getting things shipped as fast as they could after being shut down for 7 weeks. Once Michugan gave them the green light they were at it hard. The rack is solid and I'm super excited to put it to use soon. Camping in the...
So I ordered these a while back when the markets took a hit due to Covid. Austrailias dollar was a good exchange rates and since I had been eyeing them for a while I decided to pull the trigger. Took almost 2 months to get here. Australia Post had huge delays due to layoffs from pandemic panic...
Has anyone built their own "decked" systems or need drawers?
I'm trying to draw out specs to build one because I don't want to spend a $1000 on a decked system. But I'm going back on forth on whether to use mostly wood or try to use a steel or aluminum frame.
I also don't have a topper or...
Alright everyone; I just got the Desert Does It seat jackers with accesory mount... My plan was to attach my Safariland 6390RDS hoster to it via their QLS fork system, that way I could both swap for other hosters running the qls, as well as pull it off and run it on my range belt without hassle...
I've seen a lot of pictures of peoples rigs on social media and have seen people using plano or pelican gun cases (or similar) on top of roof racks.
Several questions...
1) What are you storing in yours?
2) What brand cases are you choosing?
3) How are you mounting these to your roof racks...
Has anyone here used these for a RTT?
https://www.yakima.com/bedrock-hd-system
I really want something I can easily take off with the RTT when it is not in use. I've looked at several other systems and have gone through several posts but haven't seen these in use. I am planning on a tonneau...
So I am in the process of ordering an Atlas from AT Overland, and I would love to see a 3G with one on and up, I figure this is the best shot! Anyone? The rig it’s going on—
Other than UpTop Overland, is anyone aware of any manufacturers that make a full aluminium bed rack?
My truck is a daily driver and 90% of the time, I have the bed rack in place, but from time to time to load things into the truck bed, I have to remove it and the weight of a steel rack is a...
trying to dive into learning More about simple CB setups and would love some insight on anything you personally use or have used...
I went on a run with a guy a few months back and he let me borrow his midland setup that just plugged into the cigarette lighter and ran a cable to a magnetic whip...
I recently wired the lights in my Victory 4X4 rock sliders. They are on a switch in the cab. However, I think it would be neat to wire them into the dome light circuit so that they come on when you open the door or unlock the truck. Where is the easiest place to tap into that circuit?
What are your opinions on this? I have amber BD fog lights so I was going with an amber driving / combo lightbar in the bumper but now I'm debating it. I have astigmatism so glare is an issue at night which is why I was going with mostly amber (amber ditch, fogs, lightbar) but now a friend is...
So I keep going back and forth on what route to go...camper shell or RTT. Can anyone tell me what the interior length is with tailgate and hatch open? I'm trying to figure out how much room I have to lay and headroom. Im 6'0" and I know people have said they lay with plenty of room. Im just...
Hey guys I’m looking to do all of route 1 from the Canadian boarder to the Florida keys. If anyone has done it or has info on camping, must sees ect. I’d appreciate it. I am pretty set on doing all of route 1 the way down but then coming home to Mass I’ll obviously go a different way. Thanks for...
Hey,
Planing to do dual battery setup using ML-ACR and interesting if somebody running it with two different type of batteries. I have regular starting battery And want to use optima yellow top as a second battery.
any info if it works?
Aslo if somebody have a red top optima and yellow top...
Guys is it more worth getting the big things like high clearance rear bumper and front bumper first before bed rails or roof rack? I’m itching to work on Vader the Taco more!
What’s up peeps, just like the title says, tank vs compressor. Which would you choose? Why did you choose one over the other?
main reason I would want a compressor is for an air locker. Unless there’s a better option out there for a front locker. Arb air locker and compressor was the route I...
Have some traction boards getting delivered tomorrow. Curious what everyone is using to mount them to the truck, specifically on a Prinsu rack.
I know Maxtrax has a $50 set but I'm not sure they're much better than just bolting them on.
I have been waiting to add an auxiliary reverse light since last Christmas when I was gifted a Rigid Ignite and finally got all the parts I needed to finish up the install yesterday.
Finished Product
Tools Needed (no tools for wiring shown)
3/4" Paddle bit
5/32" Drill Pit
3/32" Allen Wrench...
Does anyone have a Baja Designs S8 LED light bar that has the amber DRL? Or...any brand light bar that has the DRL? If so, do you have the DRL actually connected to a switch or did you tie them in to always turn on when you turn your DRL's on?
If any of you have this, can you please post a...
Hey everyone,
So I picked up a Cement Grey 2019 Offroad a few months ago. Took it to Hollister a week later and had a blast.
I come from a fabrication background so I started looking at things I can make.
I saw some hitch mounted points for a shackle, and then a skid plate, but not both.
So...
Does anyone have experience with the brand Rumpl?
They make blankets and ponchos and such that can be packed down pretty small. They look cool and useful for life on the road but I haven’t seen much about them besides their website and Instagram. They’re also not cheap!
What do you guys think?
What’s up peeps, just curious what tools and possible spare parts you guys either do carry with you or would suggest to carry with you while out adventuring or for an extended trip off the grid. I have a general idea but would love to hear some input from more experienced folks.
I made this as a how-to as it relates to bolting a panel on our roof rack at Victory 4x4, but it's a good overview on how to put cheap solar in your Tacoma with other racks as well
Links to the products I used are here:

Any Tacoma enthusiast from Hawaii?? Been having a hard time finding anyplace that offers product shipping at a reasonable rate. What sites/ vendors do you purchase from. Thanks
Does anyone know of a passenger side mount for a twin ARB compressor? I don’t want to bed mount it due to getting a Decked System. I put an spod in over my fuse box so there isn’t room for a compressor as well. I have a 2018 TRD Off-Road. No ABS booster in the engine bay.
Just curious if anybody has any experience with lithium batteries? There is big initial cost but supposedly 1 lithium has 2 to 3 times the capacity of an equivalent AGM and a fraction of the weight.

I'm thinking about going this route with a...
Hey everyone,
Once again we are running another sale on Diode Dynamics. This time 15% off with free shipping! SS3s are pretty much back in stock so now's the perfect time to treat yourself!
If you've been looking for a 100% street legal fog light, definitely check out the SAE Fog SS3 sports or...
Looking at RCI or the TRUSS mid height bed rack. Only problem is I’ve only found DCSB photos. Not trying to buy a rack that looks too small/short or ridiculous on a long bed. Any suggestions, input or photos will be greatly appreciated!
Fire extinguishers have not changed much in the past 100 years.
A large, heavy cylinder of compressed gas filled with a messy powder is an antiquated way to put out a fire. Element uses a tested and proven technology, created for the space program, that fights fires on the molecular level.

I’m totally cheating by making a new thread for this and not posting it in the photo section. I’m just so excited, don’t ban me!
It’s official, The Wandering Winterfields are homeowners! It was a wild six month wait for our @fourwheelcampers, especially since we had never seen one in person...

I know I’m late, but I only just heard about these yesterday. I know having the word overland in the name means it needs to cost 2x more than a normal device. But has anyone ever used one? Are its explore and camping features worth $700?
Hey Taco Family!
So I am still suppppppper new to the offroad/overland scene and wanted to know what is considered must have equipment as I begin to go camping. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
I'm looking for a tent for 3 or 4 people. Two adults and two young kids. We're moving out west and wanna camp in the winter as well. What are you guys a fan of?
I Wan to out a rack in my truck to put a rtt on it but I have yet to find a company that makes one compatible with the access cover that I have. Anyone know of anyone or would this be a complete custom deal. I'm new to all of this so in hindsight I wouldve got the retrax liner instead of the...
I've had my eye on a 450, but I'm not sure if it'll fit in the bed. Do any of you transport your dirt bikes in the back? I don't want to run a hitch based motorcycle carrier.
Let's see those bikes!
I'm looking at adding an on-board air system, wired in via accessory fuse block and done up proper. I can also see the benefit of having compressed air available for a bunch of reasons. Anyone add a air tank to their system? Location? Problems?
I’m quite sure that someone has written about my question, my apologies in advance if repeated.
My Taco didn’t come with the OEM fog lamps. Does anyone have a write up on installing a pair including wiring and switch?
Thanks in advance.
Hey guys, my name is Josh, I recently started a small off-road lighting company called DarkDefence. You can follow us on our FB page at https://Facebook.com/DarkDefence, but that's beside the point! (Just so you know what's up with my name and logo)
Today, I got a chance to check out a...
Hey all,
Will be picking up my '20 TRD Offroad tomm and want to keep my bed free of Northeast Snow. Ideally, I'd like to also utilize a bed rack in the near future. After a bit of research I found that RCI makes a bed rack that suits my needs and they advertise Tonneau adapters that look like...
Hey Guys!
We have posted a new install video on our youtube: @ragofabrication !!

What's up everyone! I'm planning a three month trip this summer, traveling around taking photos and living out of my truck. I'm currently looking at options for a fridge and solar setup, and need some recommendations. First and foremost, I will be buying a Dometic CFX40W. It's just me, so that...
Where can I find a good quality chase rack? I've been looking into getting a bed rack, but I'm worried about clearance for my four wheeler. I found some chase racks from armordillo, but can't seem to find them anywhere else. Is this the best route to take? Or am I just underestimating the...
Hey Troops
Looking at putting on a Winch...want to keep it under a Grand as it’s is something I’ll only be using in an Emergency or to haul Log or two. More then likely a Warn or Smittybilt.
Suggestions?
Has anyone seen any good deals on walkie talkies or other short wave radio coms systems? Trying to find a way to stay connected to my buddies while plowing through the woods?
I’m looking for a trailer that is good for off roading. Something I could retrofit even. I’ve looked at like military M101A1 and the M1101 trailers. Is there anything y’all recommend/have used?
Folks

I have a 2019 off road short bed with a cap on it. I noticed some water in the bed after the cap was installed. I took the cap off and replaced the weather striping between the cap and bed rails. I know the front corners are susceptible to leaks and I will address but as you can see by the...
So, I live in a city filled with criminals and given enough time they will steal everything that isn't nailed down. That being said, I see a lot of Tacos and other rigs with shovels, hi-lift jacks, maxtrax, jerrycans/rotopacks, spare tires and every other thing hanging off of them 24/7. What are...
Eagerly anticipating the availability of these caps for 3rd gen Tacomas. Has anyone got the inside scoop or been in communication with the company at all? My inquiries on IG and email have gone unanswered...

Team,
I have a good friend who gives discounted pricing on Baja Design lights and Rigid lighting as well as deals on shocks and other items. He’s working on getting his website up and going but he has been doing this for years behind the scenes.
I have bought things from him and know you will...
OK, thought I would post a couple of pictures just for the heck of it. About 14 months ago, my wife decided that we should start doing some camping. Having recently starting a new business, I knew that finding the time to get away was going to be tough but I agreed anyway. First thing I did...
Living in the northeast has done a number on my trailer ball. Starting to rust pretty bad. Anyone have any good methods for removing the rust and then any suggestions for coating it afterwards to keep it from rusting?
I got sick of my phone falling off and smacking my knee using magnetic mounts and wanted to get rid of the metal plate so I could use wireless charging so I made this dash mount for my truck over the holidays, thought I'd share. I think the actual mount ended up around $20. With the extra RAM...
I am picking up the new 2020 Taxa Cricket Overland Edition on 1/25.
https://taxaoutdoors.com/camper-trailers/cricket/
Anyone else have a Cricket? Do you like it? I spent months and months researching and came to this as my choice.
What other campers are you all rolling with??
I recently bought a used Snugtop and when I got home I looked into setting up the brake light to work with my brakes. One of the key things is the new version of the Snugtop comes with a quick connect port that also houses two USB ports. I thought it would be cool to keep that functionality...
I plan to buy a bed extender for my '18 Double Cab. All the new OEM ones that I see are the V-Shaped ones. I want the more square one. Does anybody have a part number for the square type? Most that I see for the square type or for older models. Will they still work on my '18?
New to the site and looking to get info on any good camping/gear websites for my Taco. I’ve come across https://cascadiatents.com and they look amazing, albeit pricey. Hoping to get some things done on mine once I return from an upcoming deployment and meet up with any SoCal, San Diego to be...
After months of waiting (apparently the powder coating company “lost” my panels yet I never received an email) I finally installed the rear seat Molle panels from Tacoma Apocalypse. Only took about 10 mins to install. I’m a big fan of these panels, but not a fan of the lead time or the lack of...

The auxiliary light in the third brake light is great for a little light in the bed but I would like to throw some more lighting in there to really illuminate the bed. This time of year, I’m often loading up my bike and gear in the early am when it’s still dark or unloading at night. I was...
Looking at awnings - does anyone have any that they recommend - pros and cons of owning one?
More interested in the ones that don't require poles to hold them up, but if you got one that legit, lemme know!
I saw these 2:
Kinsmen Hardware - 270 Rapid Deploy - looks like he's not accepting...
My truck is my daily driver and won't be using my camping equipment mounted on my racks often. So, do you guys just ride with all your equipment mounted up all the time and have the locked up some how? How do you guys prevent the theft? Or do you guys take everything off if you don't expect to...
Alright so I’m a week in with my new Bakflip MX4 bed cover and as clean as it looks and the ability to secure my belongings (that fit), I’m a bit bummed with how much it limits me.
would have loved to do a crossbars mounting system, dsnt work.
tried to fit my cooler for hunting in the bed...
Didn't want a receiver bike carrier ( way too expensive), but found out the bike didn't fit behind the front seats even with the front tire removed....Ok...it did but with an extreme amount of futzing around. Wanted to be able to keep the tonneau closed and locked and also the bike. Also didn't...
Man these thing is Bright AF. I installed just one on one side because I have a one off Pelfrey bumper with a Wilco welded on.
Also changed my @Baja Designs squadeon sport combo ditch lights to Amber.

How do you control boxes or other cargo from sliding all over your truck bed? I've looked around the post's a bit, and haven't come across an answer for this. How do you keep things from sliding around in the bed of your truck, especially of you have a bed cover? I'd like to see something...
Wanting some feedback, review, preference and why regarding Tonneau covers.
Just debating between the Diamondback vs. Tyger Hard Cover.
Thank you all!!!
I'm curious if anyone has tried hooking up windoors or other traditional 'T' locks to the tailgate Pop N Lock to have them unlock by remote? I'm sure there is a bit more complexity on how these 'T' locks work but interested if anyone has some sort of solution that they know works.
I'm looking...
Wondering what, if anything, do you guys keep with you as far as spare parts when out offroading trips?
Just from reading around and videos, seems the CVs are the most likely to break, haven't seen too many other failures.
I like the idea of the Blue Ridge Overland Attic, but I was having problems with my jackets shifting or sliding out and blocking the rear window, when I drove with the windows down. I tried adjusting the draw string and playing around with the strap tightness but the jackets alway shifted out of...
