How do you lock equipment mounted on racks?

My truck is my daily driver and won't be using my camping equipment mounted on my racks often. So, do you guys just ride with all your equipment mounted up all the time and have the locked up some how? How do you guys prevent the theft? Or do you guys take everything off if you don't expect to go camping in the near future?

Equipment I'm referring to is like shovels, axes, hi-lift jacks, recovery boards, fire extinguishers, rotopax, etc.

I've seen long cables that is fished through everything hanging (then 1 padlock) or items have built in locks.

Unless you got eyes on it at all times it'll walk

yea.... I guess that's what I figured. One lock is definitely easier than having multiple locks/keys. I was hoping for some more feedback to chime in on different mounts people are using that are lockable? I've been searching for a bit.

I use the locks that come with a gun when you buy one. They are about a 12 inch cable, so there isn't a ton of slack on them. They are pretty cheap and can probably be cut through, but they probably deter most people right away.

Our truck is also a daily driver. We lock everything we carry on the truck so we sleep better at night. We run the Leitner Designs ACS rack with their lockable gear pods. We also have their locking hi-lift mount, RotoPax Lock Mounts, and a DECKED system that also locks. Lastly, we lock our MAXTRAX to the back of our Gear Pod XL.

It all works pretty well.
