• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Mounting a Pro Eagle jack

Didn't see this till now. Currently the jack is sitting in the bed next to my spare tire. I've seen some people use the existing bed mounting bolts to mount the jack mount to the bed. I may go this route now to keep weight off the bed rails. These jacks aren't light lol. I have to still mock it...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Little update about my fox shocks. After multiple back and forth conversations with my local shop and Accutune, we decided it's best if we send the shocks out to Accutune to be rebuilt again and to have the adjusters repaired. Apparently there is a proprietary fox tool they use when doing this...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

I called them today and then went to the shop after work. Their shock builder did admit he missed checking the high speed knobs. They checked pressure in the shocks and verified everything else operated properly. We’re working on a plan to fix it. Most likely need some new internals on both rear...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

When you pay a shop to rebuild your shocks. A week later you try to adjust the compression and the knob won’t move. Pulled the knobs and found this… yeah I don’t think they even took the reservoirs apart. Pretty pissed right now seeing that I have a big trip in a couple weeks.

    mgmyota's TRD off-road build

Got my Baja s2’s wired up this weekend. Also installed the molle panel at the head of the bed. Hopefully I can get the pro eagle jack mounted next. Got at least a couple trips coming up so just trying to knock some stuff out. Need to get my bump stops thrown back on next once the mounts are...

    16 - Tacoma lifted/35in tires

Glad you figured out the issue. Sounds like this truck need some good TLC all around. I would grease everything that requires it to start, and double check fluids. Pre modified vehicles can be tricky since you don't know the true history of maintenance. Hope you can enjoy the truck now!

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Dude at work asked if I wanted some molle panels for the bed and center console. He gave me every panel Cali raised makes for free, pretty much brand new. Wasn’t going to say no to that lol. He insisted he wanted no money 🤷🏼‍♂️. Just need to source a little hardware.

    mgmyota's TRD off-road build

Pulled off the bump stop mounts today to give those a good revive while the bumps are being rebuilt. I absolutely hate the corrosion we have to deal with here 🙄. I miss the desert for that aspect. Cleaned up the frame and will clean up and possibly powder coat or just spray paint the mounts.

3rd gen big brake upgrades? (Powerbrake X1 install)

I think this is a relatively new kit so probably not many people with it. Also probably the most expensive standard size rotor and pad setup you can get lol so that might turn people away. But I haven't heard anything but happy reviews about their big brake kit so I can only imagine this kit is...

Hammer performance. And at the time I posted that comment is roughly when I was quoted. I would recommend going to a different shop honestly. Inner Fenders & 35s

That price seems a bit steep if you ask me. Can't hurt to get some quotes from other reputable shops in the area. Or just get a quote for just the body mount relocate and do the fender liner yourself. They must be adding a few beer breaks in there for 20 hours.

    Rear Seat Delete

If you really needed to you could swap the seats back in. Would be kind of annoying to do though lol. That’s why I started with the 40%. But seeing how I’ve carried one passenger back there since, I think I’ll swap to the 60% or just delete the whole seat and tell people to find another ride 😂...

    Undercoat and Ceramic Coating

Yeah I would just let someone else do it since detailing isn't your forte. It's best to correct the paint first before either ceramic coating, sealing or waxing. Nothing you couldn't learn though
  46. mgmyota

    Undercoat and Ceramic Coating

As far as ceramic coating, that depends on your level of skill with detailing a vehicle. If you know how to properly correct your paint then I would say you could deal with ceramic...

I'm in New Hampshire and most people here go balls to the wall with undercoating their vehicles. I guess I'm one of the rare ones that doesn't like caking that stuff on. But I'm also very anal about cleaning my truck throughout winter so I really have very minimal surface rust in some small...

Do you have a good solution to keep a single wolf pack or other storage crate from sliding in bed?

I’ve hear the factory rubber bed mat actually works well with preventing things some sliding around. As long as you have a little weight in the box I’m sure it would work well. Otherwise you may have to custom rig something. I’m using some bungees to hold a box in my bed as well. Probably going...

This is the current situation in my bed. Spare is on the passenger side. The softopper almost makes it impossible to utilize the side bed rails which is annoying. Which bumper would you choose?

Yeah I kind of feel the same. For some reason the relentless seems a bit more appealing, though they both still look great. The relentless is about 113lbs and the bamf is about 130lbs. I can never make my mind up about which bumper I want. I think I'm down to these two now. Which of these would you choose? BAMF or Relentless fab? Or suggest another that you like. These were on the lighter side for full steel bumpers I could find that I liked.
