• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    OC overland meet

I’ll be heading there early. If history has taught me something, it’s that trucks start showing up waaaayyy earlier than posted time.
  6. badfish_taco

    Possible Food Drive??

It would also be a truck meet for everyone to socialize. We need something like this in SD.
  7. badfish_taco

    Possible Food Drive??

Wouldn’t it be a great idea if we got a whole bunch of SoCal (and AZ) people together for one great cause here in America’s Finest City?! I think it’d be awesome if the good folks at @Tacoma3G spearheaded a Food Drive event somewhere close to Thanksgiving. Get come local vendors involved to...

    4.88 Gears

I guess I’ll give my input since I also regeared. I got 4.88 Yukon gears installed because I upgraded to 315/70/17 KO2 e rated. That’s about 62 lbs a tire. My current mpg is 15. I’m in San Diego. Truck performs the way it should off roading, including going up steep hills. You should strongly...

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

Wow really? They did mine for free and took them half a day to do.

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

Funny I remember you asking me on Saturday if the kings EXT would fit with the OME leaf pack. After doing some research on multiple forums and having my buddy tell me I had to, I found out that it is highly recommended that you get them specd for Dakars.
  11. badfish_taco

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

I just found this out too. Picked up the rears yesterday with extended travel and my buddy highly recommended getting them specd for Dakars. I’ll be getting that done at DSM since that’s where I bought them from.

From where are you heading out of?
  14. badfish_taco

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

To get the added height in the rear I went with the OME medium duty leaf pack with extended rear shocks. Still waiting for rear kings to arrive so for now it’s just bilstein 5100s in there. And my mpg before the regear was 13mpg average. Now it’s at 16-17 mpg.
  15. badfish_taco

    !!CLEGHORN T3G MEETUP!!

    See you there.
  16. badfish_taco

    !!CLEGHORN T3G MEETUP!!

Hey dude count me in for the group heading from SD. I’ll roll with you guys to meet up with Tyler in Pendleton and Cleghorn from there.
  17. badfish_taco

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

Well my KO2s are really 34.4 inches tall. They’re not true 35s but I still call them that. Plus the tire is huge and weighs a massive 63 lbs w/o the wheel.
  18. badfish_taco

    Pelfreybilt: Your one stop shop

An open house would be awesome! It’s about time San Diego gets involved in these large events. Having to drive to OC/LA for big meetups can get annoying after a while.

    !!CLEGHORN T3G MEETUP!!

Who’s heading there from SD?? Let’s get a convoy going
  20. badfish_taco

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

It’s a pain in the motherfucking ass that’s for sure lol excuse the language. It’s a lot of trial and error for sure, and with is also a lot of wasted money. Once I get everything sorted out I hope I can guide the hopefuls in the right direction so they don’t spend so much money like I have

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

  22. badfish_taco

Running 35's: Is it painful, and if it is, was it worth it?

As some of you may already know, I went with 315s. Not 35s but close enough. My tires measure to 34.4 inches. I’m still having some rubbing issues on the cab mount even after the cmc and adjust the casters to as much positive as possible. My kings are set to about 2.75” height. My wheels are 0...

That’s a good way to see things. I’m still impatient af though lol
  28. badfish_taco

    Best sliders for our Tacos

I get that. Support local. That’s one of the reasons why I originally wanted to go with Pelfreybilt. They’re located about 20 minutes from me. But their lead time is ridiculous for sliders. Last I checked it was 12 weeks. That’s almost towards the end of summer!
  29. badfish_taco

    Best sliders for our Tacos

That’s good to know! I’ve heard great things about them.

    Best sliders for our Tacos

Just made a (drunk) purchase last night for some CBI rock sliders. Didn’t do much research before buying them, because alcohol, so I’m curious to know what the rest of you think about which sliders are the best! Do you get your aftermarket parts back when your truck gets totaled?

Lol no it’s just something I’ve always been curious about.
  35. badfish_taco

    Underrated SCS Wheels

I know SCS wheels are all around popular, but I wanna which wheel you guys think doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves. *i didn’t include Ray 10 because that is by far the most popular wheel.
  36. badfish_taco

Do you get your aftermarket parts back when your truck gets totaled?

So let’s say I no longer had my stock wheels, could I just ask them to not add the wheel value so I could just take my aftermarket ones off?

    San Diego meets

I saw a thread on TW a couple years ago about an annual BBQ that is held at Fiesta Island during the summer. Anyone heard of it? And if that doesn’t happen anymore, would anyone be interested in having one later this summer? Not just for Tacomas but also any outdoor enthusiast vehicle.

Cali Raised products: Yay or Nay?

I’ve also heard about that issues in Cali raised products, especially in ditch light brackets. Ever heard about this complaint?
  39. badfish_taco

Do you get your aftermarket parts back when your truck gets totaled?

For those of you involved in a car accident where your truck was totaled, does your insurance company allow you to remove your aftermarket parts or are you allowed to remove whatever parts are salvageable?
  40. badfish_taco

Cali Raised products: Yay or Nay?

I’ll just avoid all that trouble and get some from Rago lol

Cali Raised products: Yay or Nay?

Im looking at getting some items from them that aren’t too critical like the bed rail flag holder and the bed stiffeners. For items like these, I wouldn’t mind getting non brand, i mean how bad could they be right? Lol

Cali Raised products: Yay or Nay?

I’ve known about Cali Raised for a few years now. During that time I’ve seen about the same amount of positive reviews as I’ve seen negative. Their products seem solid and reasonably priced. So my question is should I buy their products or shop at another more consistently reliable company?

    School me on WHEEL SPACERS

Idk if I’d like to make it a permanent thing with loctite. I’d definitely make sure they were torqued properly. I know I’m gonna have to trim like crazy, I’m ok with that. I just want to have least amount of running possible. I’ll cut whatever needs to be cut.

None at all. All I had to do was unmount the TSS from the OEM grille and mount it back up on the pro grille. Just make sure the grille has an insert slot before buying it. And as you can tell m grille doesn’t have that glossy window plate that everyone says you need for the TSS to work. Mine...

I had 5100s in my previous 3rd gen and then same thing happened. Looks terrible. But they did stretch out a bit when I installed the OME springs. Do you plan on getting aftermarket springs? If so, it’ll go away and won’t look as bad.

I’m going with 35s on mine. I’m still hesitant about going this route just because of all the additional money I have to spend in order to make this happen but I’ve been on 285 70 17 and wish I’d gone bigger.
