Installed a We Boost today! I am excited to try it out and see if it helps. Even though I made a mistake and ordered an "RV" kit and not a "truck" kit I thought, "No problem, I will just run some wire back through the firewall from my SPOD and splice it into the power cord that was supplied. Well, problem, I had, for a moment forgotten the whole AC/DC thing. The supplied power cord converts AC to DC 5v power and luckily I realized the problem before I did the splicing. I continued on installing the other components and tested it out by running an extension cord to the truck and just plugging it in.
I mounted the outside antenna on my roof rack, originally I planned on removing the weather-stripping and drilling a hole through the roof and feeding the coaxial under the roof liner, down the B pilar and under the seat. But when I stripped the headliner back to see what I was dealing with I found an air bag. So I went with Plan B, not as pretty, but it works.
I pulled back the door weather stripping and fed the coaxial along the ceiling to the B pillar and down to the floor. I had planned to place the We Boost unit under the passenger seat, but I found it did not fit well so I started to search for alternate mounting sites. After investigating a few spots I finally settled on placing it in the storage area under the backseats. I just had to remove the panel near the door sills and run the coaxial under the flooring and drill a few holes in the storage bins for the outside and inside antenna coaxial.
I cut some slits in this plastic piece to allow it to sit more flush, otherwise the panel would not have snapped back on properly.
This is the view of the We Boost sitting in the small storage container. I mounted the inside antenna along the center console and ran the coaxial under the driver's seat and then under the carpeting back to the storage container and the hole I had drilled.
After testing it with the supplied power cord I jumped online and ordered a DC hardwire kit that will be here in a few days. I have already run wiring back from the SPOD to the storage container and just need to splice it in. Now I just hope the We Boost works as advertised.
