Congratulations. Big step in my mind.
Finished up fluid services on my 17 TRD Off-road. A couple weeks ago I did the rear diff and transfer case right after I bought it. Serviced transmission (was still OE fluid at 103K) pan dropped and cleaned, new filter and gasket and refilled with Idemitsu TLS-LV, 1-2 and 2-3 upshift feel significantly smoother and faster and it felt fine as it was. Coolant changed, front diff oil changed as well. It all went so smoothly I didn't even get to call it any names which is rare for me working on something modern. I like how simple and oldschool the underside of the truck is. Oh yeah, I lowered the spare and checked tire pressures as well, definitely need to replace that when its time for tires there's some deep grooves in the sidewall from where it sits against the frame. I had that issue with my F250's spare tire I found that using some thicker tool box drawer liner folded up a few times prevents that from happening to the tire.
What's emmisions testing?Passed AZ emissions yesterday with KDMax and all 22k of my miles.
Only place in the State that does emmisions testing, is St. Louis. I'm not sure if because Illinois or what. St. Louis is awful, I much prefer Kansas City.

Yeah.. Most of AZ doesn't have it but they do in Phoenix metro, so I get to. Not a big deal since I don't plan on putting headers on the Taco and anything else I buy will be old unless I decide to do a VIP (which won't get many performance mods).
Installed new shocks and struts today. The OEM Bilsteins still felt pretty good for 103K but there were certain situations where they felt kinda weak. They all still had rebound when I took them off but the new KYB Gas a just are about 3 times stiffer to compress by hand, I reused the OE front springs for the struts and it was a really nice improvement. Nosedive when braking is almost completely gone, handling around a corner feels better, I don't feel every single micro bump in the road anymore I barely feel those at all and it doesn't bottom out on speed bumps anymore either. I did the whole job front and rear and front tires back on in 2 hours.
NICE!! I assume those are just a replacement style for the OEM with no lift correct?

Ordered the TEQ coolant bypass pipe today to keep on the shelf until I need it. It's a super common problem on the 3.5l trucks and a super-er unfun install but nice to have a proper cast piece available finally to replace the stock plastic part that is prone to cracking.

I will keep that in mind for the future. Glad they made a aluminum replacement. I've also heard it's a nightmare to do. Same, and this is much more cost effective and better designed than modifying a Lexus one.

Below is not my photo and pretty much the only way to see it is with a boroscope since it's so hard to access, but the factory plastic pipe cracks at its seam and coolant leaks out thru it. It really should be a recall/tsb with an updated part, but the Toyota fix is to replace it with the same flawed part. The Lexus's that use the 2gr motor have a metal bypass pipe, but it is $250, has gaskets instead of o-rings and requires cutting and welding to fit on the taco's. The TEQSPORT is a much better design.

Woke up to violence this morning. Walked out the garage, went to start the Tacoma. CLICK..CLICKITY. Awesome. Throw it in neutral, push it outside. Find my jumper cables, set them next to my drivers wheel. Go back in the house, get wifes keys. Figure out which side her battery was on (it's a loaner). Spun it around, backed in next to my truck. Realized I've now ran over my jumper cables. Bent the shit out of the clamps. They worked enough to jump it.
Guess I'll be buying a battery after work. Truck is basically stock, so off to Autozone after work. I have zero need for an AGM.
Anyone recommend a good jump pack? NOCO?

I have a NOCO. I’ve never used it in my truck, but have to jump others. Works good, just don’t forget to periodically check to charge it. It seems to hold a charge, but sure would suck if it was dead when you needed it!
My buddy recommended to look at Sams Club. He uses his all the time to charge his kids toys.

Here ya go. She`s still a stock truck with non noticeable improvements. Eventually there will be new tires and a slight lift to it. I`ll post pics of my wife`s Tacoma. Thats the look I`m going for as well.
