Whats your opinion on superbumps? I have been debating getting them but when I reached out to them they stated the following below.

"We normally do not run any spacers up front with our superbumps. As most after market suspension is aware of the full range of motion involved with these vehicles. For the rear, the OME shocks are not too long of a shock to worry about damage on full compression as they work fine with the stock bump stops."

Curious what your thoughts are though

Honestly they probably aren't necessary sure, but I've hit the factory bump stops with this suspension setup and it hurts. It's a bone jarring break your spine kind of feeling. These are definitely softer. Overkill probably, unnecessary maybe, better than stock absolutely.

And you'd think they would try and sell me on it, I was set on getting them until they responded that way. Good to hear they work out well though, I was just curious because I got the exact same set up

?‍♂️ They'd know better than me, but they are definitely an upgrade from the factory stops. Those things are as hard as hockey pucks when you hit them.

We have a Mojave trail trip coming up in two weeks so I finally placed an order for a Cobra CB the other day. Also picked up a hidden winch mount from @Tyler so hope to have that installed before the trip as a bumper isn't quite happening yet. Hopefully soon enough. Also working on getting on board air installed finally so we can ditch the compressor in the bed

And finally made a quick drone IG vid. They'll get better I promise. Haha

Yesterday I installed a Smittybilt X20 10,000 lbs winch on a CBI hidden mount I got from @Tyler s few weeks back. Got the winch from forum vendor @Battle Born Offroad for a killer deal. Very excited to finally have the option to winch. Still need to spool up the cable and order all the winch gear before the next trip.

Lifted the front end!!

IMG_20190430_130837.webp

No, not in a good way ?‍♂️. The UCA's were squeaking like crazy so I pulled them to replace the bushings. Then I looked down at the bottom of the coilover and saw it.

If you look closely you can see the o-ring bulging out of place. Not good. So I pulled the coilovers as I need to have them height adjusted anyhow.

The outer edges of the sleeve inserts in the bottom of the coilover looks to be pretty gouged up. This could have been what was making the noise I was hearing and assumed was the UCA's.

I then I removed the sleeve inserts and pulled the o-ring.

The o-ring is pretty beat up. It's cracking and just doesn't look good. Under the o-ring the spherical bearing built into the bottom of the shock isn't looking so hot either. Looks like a lot of dirt and debris has been in there a while and may have done some damage.

And the other side of the same bearing

Waiting to hear back from ARB but so far they've been very responsive on the phone. Emailed them pics this afternoon and they are working on it.

Pop “n” Lock Power tailgate and window locks tied to factory keyfob

So first off, I love your build, lots of inspiration here. I like your camper a lot, as much as I like the aesthetics of some others a bit better, I recognize how the windoors would be extremely useful.

If I'm reading above correctly, did you hook the Pop & Lock up to the windoors also so the fob unlocks everything on the camper? How did you go about setting that up?

Thanks for the compliments. ?

No, sorry, the shell only unlocks the rear glass with the fob. The windoors are still manual twist to open and would require some kind of a motorized lock setup that I didn't bother looking into. I'm sure it's possible, I just didn't go that in depth. I guess I need to go back and look at how I wrote that because I guess it's not clear. Sorry for the confusion.

No worries, I wasn't sure based upon the wording, that'd be a cool thing to explore in the future, the less keys the better!

I completely agree it would be rad to have them all tied into the OEM central locking. Might take some work though for sure.

Also some new changes on the truck...

IMG_20190524_103414.webp

So we got crazy the other day. We wanted to step the truck up and help with visibility for Tacoma3G as well as highlight the vendors who have committed to supporting our fundraiser to benefit first responders.

If you'd like to learn more about our fundraiser, and donate you can do so by going to...

Or

So without further ado...

We wrapped the truck. We wanted to keep the truck similar the pattern @Malcolm used for his truck for continuity among the staff members. @Tyler has got slightly different plans for his as he is the big ?. ?

We also were able to finally make a mod happen that I have been wanting for quite some time. I was finally able to get some of the dopest wheels on the market for our trucks, fifteen52 Turbomac HD Classics in carbon gray.

I'm absolutely in love with these wheels and couldn't be happier with the end result. fifteen52 had always had incredible designs with their wheels. And when they started making wheels for trucks they immediately went on my wishlist. Now I need bigger tires. Hahahaha

I feel so left out! You look so official now dude. When I saw you rolling into our meet the other day I got a little nervous.

Ordered 5.29's the other day. Should be here in about a week.

Also working on prepping the electrical for future upgrades. So the Switch Pro will be going on a mount with some other goodies.
I NEED to get on those 5.29's, I just keep adding more and more weight I'm about to rename my truck the struggle bus

That's pretty much where I'm at. Even minor hills the truck just struggles to get up to speed. It's either downshift to 3rd and scream, or bog down.

Removed my Dakar HD springs....

IMG_20190716_093419.webp

Disassembled them, cleaned them....

IMG_20190716_100259.webp

IMG_20190716_112156.webp

Then greased all the bushings and added bicycle inner tube rubber to high friction areas...

IMG_20190716_112201.webp

Then added an extra D29xl leaf to make my 7 leaf Dakar HD pack an 8 leaf extra HD pack.

IMG_20190716_114052.webp

IMG_20190716_114035.webp

Then reassembled them with a new grade 8 center pin with an 8mm Allen key head.

IMG_20190716_121248.webp

IMG_20190716_114027.webp

Adding the leaf like this is supposedly an approved addition/modification from OME. Hopefully this will help with some of our sag on longer, loaded down trips.

Today I did a number of things. Installed the new tires and had the alignment done again. Went with Toyo 315/70/17 MT's and immediately had rubbing everywhere. Haha. We then went ahead and removed the spacers.

Then went home and immediately started cutting and banging. Removed the entire fender liner so now my air box is exposed so it looks like I will be getting a dorkel now. ????

Then installed the S2 Pro side floods, Squadron Pro ditch lights on @ragofabrications brackets, and an RTL-S chase light. All will be wired up tomorrow, but for now it's all show.

Pics tomorrow. ?
