0uTkAsT's 3-Pedal Rebel | Build & BS

That is the one I keep putting in the cart and taking out. Think it would be perfect as I need a place for the spare.
That’s what I did. High clearance swing out. Didn’t do the table or anything gonna mount rotos on it

Thanks for the bumper @0uTkAsT

Looks really good man! We must've been busy hacking my truck up while you were busy with the bumper.

Brandon did a really clean, aggressive CMC for me today and we got the pinch weld completely flat and did a shitload of trimming all over the place in preparation for the 34s...

Here's an idea of how badly I was rubbing the plastics over the pinch weld with just 32" tires... we got really aggressive with the cutting, bending and trimming tonight to hopefully prevent having to do much more in the future.

We cut so much that there were a lot of gaps left over in places I didn't want mud/snow/sand/water collecting over time. The only solution I could think of, was to apply a tiny bit of spray foam. Once it fully expands and cures, I'll trim it flush, sand it and hit it with some rubberized undercoating. Should look decent and keep the crud out.

I'll post a picture of the finished product tomorrow hopefully. Note how frickin clean Brandon's CMC work is before I hose it down with undercoating overspray tomorrow!! Any ugliness is my handiwork, not Avid's. :ROFLMAO:

Ahhh. Coulda used seam sealer. Similar to the foam but more elastic. And woulda had to wait.

Coming along nicely.

Josh are you planning on doing a u bolt flip too? Or those staying the same

Yeah eventually I'm going to do a U-bolt flip. I plan on ordering it from Wheeler's at the same time I get my SuperBumps. Just trying to let the wallet cool off for a while.

End result looks pretty factory, just with lots more room for activities! Pretty happy with the spray foam TBH. Looks just like some of the seams elsewhere on the truck, and when covered with the undercoating it seems to be pretty durable. We'll see how it holds up over time but at least I won't be getting excessive moisture or debris intrusion into the fender or cab!

I like the idea of filling in those gaps. I’ve lost so much inner fender plastic that definitely has left some areas for road scunge to collect, and it’s made paranoid about rust.

What did you use to spray over the foam? Stuff you get from Home Depot?

This is what I put on over the foam and just feathered it out from there. It goes on nice and thick and is heavily textured so you have to make sure you don't get it anywhere you don't want it, but it looks perfect inside the fenderwell. Also, I kinda freaked out because it goes on brown when you first spray it so I thought it was going to look like ass, but it dries to a nice matte black and blends well.

The foam did exactly what I wanted and filled in all of the gaps so now I don't have to be paranoid about packing the voids full of rocks that will rattle, mud that will never wash out, snow and road salts that will rust, water that might find it's way into the passenger compartment, etc.

Going to be beating my pinch weld flat on Saturday. Got some flex seal and auto sealer to use.
That looks very nice!

Thanks! I'm happy with how it turned out, and freed up way more tire clearance than I had with the last truck despite having flares because I didn't do the plastics and pinch weld right the first time on the '16. Avid did a more aggressive chop this time around also. Hopefully trimming and rubbing will be minimal from this point forward... I'm going from a 31.7" to a 33.9" tire so I'm going to need every bit of it.

Mocked up the WaterPORT early this morning... I think this thing is going to be awesome! If you fill it from a hose it's self-pressurized, and if it loses pressure you can use the new pump cap to repressurize it without needing to hook a pump up to the Schraeder valve, but it does still have the valve if you want to use a pump. Pretty cool. The hose is nice and long and the sprayer that came with it has a ton of settings. My only concern is the plastic fittings, but it'll be super easy to replace them with brass parts if they eventually fail.

It has a quick release mount and they included a padlock for security. It mounted right up flush with the bed rail, no additional hardware needed. I did epoxy the nuts in to the T-slot adapters so they wouldn't fall out the back, and added blue LocTite. Otherwise it bolted up in less than 2 minutes.

I guess that means no more swamp ass.?

Haha! This solves a lot of problems for us:
- Our giant Reliance water container will no longer slide around, leak, or take up space in the bed, and the valve can no longer get busted off... all of which happens on nearly every trip
- Rinsing off hands/feet/shoes will be quick and easy, with less waste
- Quick camp showers, beach rinse-offs, face spritz to cool off
- Washing off the stinky ass dog and topping off his water bowl
- Pressurized water for doing dishes in camp
- Cleaning gunk off the windshield when it gets gnarly

Probably a lot more uses that aren't popping into my head right away, but we've been looking for a better water solution for years so I hope this doesn't let us down.

I wish I had that much bed rail real estate left. that thing looks awesome

Yeah, I have no room for recovery tracks now, unless I figure out a way to mount them underneath the bed rack tubes somehow... a bummer for sure, but I can count on one hand the times we wished we had traction boards and we need water constantly, and pressurized water is even more useful so if this thing is half as awesome as I think it'll be, then we're in good shape.

It holds just under 4 gallons, which is usually about what we go through on a 3-day trip (not including drinking water)... and we will be wasting less, but probably using it more often out of sheer convenience, so we'll see how it goes. It's so nice to have the pump cap in case we need to top it off on the fly. We will probably carry at least 3-4 gallons extra the first few times out just to gauge our consumption.

OuTkAsT, could I get your opinion on my truck. Do you think my CV axle, tie rod and lower ball joint are at a funky angle? The ball joint sits kinda cock eyed. Or am I just being overly paranoid?

Not looking to hi jack your thread, just value your opinion.

One more item to get your opinion on.

I’ve lost a lot of inner fender well and was thinking of filling in the gaps with some backer rod, then foam spray like you did, then finish it off with some of the spray in the above quote. Do you think that would work, or would there be too much vibration and it would eventually break apart?

I apologize if the pics kinda suck.

Tie rod looks ok to me but the angle on the lower ball joint does look funky. Your CV angles are steep but not terrible depending on the amount of lift you have. My truck isn't lifted right now so I have nothing to compare your angles to at the moment. @JerryTaco2.0 what do you think?

Yeah you're missing a lot of liner in there, more than mine it looks like. I think (but don't yet know) the spray foam should be a decent long-term solution. It sticks really well to whatever it's applied to and has a decent amount of elasticity so there shouldn't be enough vibration or movement in those parts to deteriorate it too much over time, plus the rubberized undercoating is also fairly elastic and should help to preserve the underlying foam. This is all theoretical but I've used it a lot on things that see vibration and heat cycling (water pipes, ductwork, etc.) and it seems to hold up well over the years.

I’m not sure exactly how much lift I have over stock. With the wheels I have it’s difficult to get an accurate center of hub to bottom of fender measurement. But I have 12 threads on the driver side and six on the passenger. For what that’s worth. It sits at least two to three inches higher for sure.

If @JerryTaco2.0 or @hellppy xould shed some light since they are both running the same size tire as me would be great. Or anyone else who knows for that matter.

I’ll try the foam and see what happens. Yes, got a little carried away on the fender trim. The tires are tearing the shit out of the plastic. It won’t be long before it’s trashed.

Thx again.

I'll find out for myself how the 34" tires are going to rub after they go on next month. I got as aggressive as I could ahead of time so hopefully it's not too bad but there's just no way of knowing until they're on. My UCAs also have a lot of caster adjustment so I might play with that also before heading to alignment. Time will tell.

Sitting at SDHQ getting the brake lines done. One step closer!! They suggested that the locker and ABS wiring shouldn't be an issue on trucks with the bigger rear end... I'll have to see for myself, but it sure would be nice if I didn't have to fuck with it.

Very pleased to see that @SDHQ OFFROAD used Crown Performance to make my brake lines... Top quality stuff right there. Install took them less than an hour and it would've taken me all damn day and been a huge pain in the ass so thanks Joey for taking care of me.
