• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

CoastieRon's Silver build & BS

Time for a grill update! :p

Trucks looking good so far.
I don't think so. I like the grille as is with the SR surround. It's not gaudy, doesn't have big bold letters, isn't metal. Don't care about Raptor lights, or flashy back lighting, don't want a Pro (or Faux Pro) grille, as it seems every swinging dick has one. I'm going to roll as is.

I guess I'm a swinging dick... I was going to recommend the BAMF grill personally but hey, your truck your rules :)

No offense intended. If I were to do any grille, honestly, it would be this one, but without the logo

None taken, just being a smart ass :p

That grill looks nice, I went with the TRD one because I wanted to make sure to keep the TSS.

Yeah. The X-Trek with mesh handles the TSS.

Next up, cleaning up this clusterfuck:

But this will probably come in first:

So I have 2 things on order right now being delivered within the next week or so, and that is it for my truck for the year. I blew my budget and bought a towable for our property up north.

Where did you find that Homelink button? Cheaper than the homelink mirror?
GENHLBP1 is the model #. I paid $129 on eBay. No idea if it was cheaper, I wasn't looking for the mirror because sometimes I park it out side, and I would rather the buttons not be in sight.

I'll stay tuned!

I get to install my full skid plates plus sliders this week if I get it all painted, weather permitting
Sliders are something I'm interested in for later on. Got to get the waverunner sorted out first lol.

Pending item is a custom shift knob.

So this is the last one for a while (at least 10k miles until next item)

The next items (big ticket) will be:

1. Replacing 5100s and 884 springs. I've done a good amount of research on this and have decided I am going to support local business and pick up a set of Main Line Overland's GTS 2" lift set. These are made by Dobinsons.

https://www.mainlineoverland.com/products/gts-suspension-kit-3rd-gen-2016-toyota-tacoma

Light/medium kit will be perfect for my needs and provide a 2" lift. This is not a "must do", but rather a "want to do" item. The 5100s are working just fine, and I may just keep them and switch from the 884 to the 885 springs and call it a day, who knows.

2. Replace Entune head unit. It seems like I need to reboot that fucker every morning for it to see my phone, USB and iPod. That shit is getting old. I'm going to be looking for something mid-range, with at LEAST 5v outputs, the ability to have my "iPod" (iPhone 6 with the SIM card removed) plugged into it, USB drive plugged into it, but be able to bluetooth my Pixel 2 for my books/etc. I could really care less about NAV, but if I can continue to have that hooked up on the head unit, that would be cool. Also, I don't feel like fishing a new hands free mic...... Recommendations welcome.
