• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

It won’t because of the way the Gibson is routed. Besides wanted a new exhaust anyways.

I’ll get a picture when I’m back under it this weekend.
That's lame. Also glad I didn't go with that exhaust like I almost did. Very happy with Magnaflow Overland fwiw.

It’s a nice smooth bend. Just wasn’t made for clearance for more than a regular spare unfortunately. Meh

Figured it was about time to take some fall foliage pics. Got a break in the rain and gave it a quick iPhone shoot. Edited them awfully, but trying to bring the colors out. @Tyler peep that last one.

leaves already fell here :( past peak as they say
It’s been progressingly more amber colored over the last 2 days. Been raining since yesterday. Glad I took the time.

I dig them. The one you said is your favorite is mine too. We'll do a fall theme for the next RotM.

There's not really anywhere to put small bits of trash in this truck and the little square pocket behind the shifter is pretty useless.. so enter the Tacos4Cheap bucket/coin sorter. I chose the empty box style as I never carry change around and wanted a place to throw straw wrappers and etc. Out of the box it didn't fit great and required me to line the complete exterior with felt tape to avoid rattles but it fits perfect now after 1 layer all the way around and 2 on the bottom. Another subtle MGM accent added to my interior.

Also mmmm that shift knob.

I didn’t get any real good pictures. You can see the spare hitting the rear exhaust hangar. The actual exhaust was resting on the tire as well.

Bolts were rusted but nothing too bad a little penetrating oil and elbow grease couldn’t handle. At least it’s out. I’ll install the new exhaust Sunday. This has been an exhausting week and I just want a nap and some beer.

Took a trip to land between the lakes, KY/TN. Water is down, so was able to drive about 0.5 miles down the shore to an awesome little valley camp site. Drove up to a level spot and set up. Eagles, herons, deer, hogs, fish, leaves, and quiet. Truck performed flawlessly as usual.

Epic!!

New exhaust is in. I’m hung over so I didn’t drive it yet. Just started it up to check for leaks. Cold start sounded good then it went to almost stock quiet.

Looks good. Exhausts that dump before the rear axle are hit or miss whether they're going to drone or not, but hopefully with that big muffler it will be tolerable.

Drove it in to work today. It’s deff louder than the Gibson. I like it. No drone and almost silent when not on the throttle.

Edited some shots from our trip to Missouri a couple of weeks back.

Found some really nice spots. This was definitely the best campsite.
And you didn't even let @DavidLReid and I know?!?!?

Where were you at? We both live in SW Mo.

I ended up servicing both differentials, transfer case and transmission. I’m liking the added drop with these icons though.
The RXT's were way too stiff for me with an empty bed, but they did flex very well.

My J66's ride tremendously better but it does seem like I lost a little bit of droop with them. Hoping I can pick up a bit more after doing the Hammers.

Truck looks nice tho man, gave you a follow. (y)

Finally installed suspension on the truck. Locked Offroad 2.5" all around with 14" 650lb springs and Accutune Offroad's new Tacoma UCA's, plus Accutune's custom Deaver N98 in the rear with their new U Bolt Flip & Bump Stop kit!

This is really the first full shoot of the truck with all the new stuff on it. 4WP sliders, old school Rays Power Volk Wheels, basic lighting upgrades, etc.

All of these things with your Tacoma?

Experiment Alert!

Picture this…. I’m driving to Walmart. My brain is suddenly in a fog of dread; I get that unnerving thought of, “did I latch the latches?!”—even though, of course I did. But, then!…

I see this little guy on the shelf in Walmart (not sponsored). Without much thought, I deposit my little mirror-on-a-loop, right into my shopping basket—because… [*see photos*]

Now, the test: the drive home.

Will I be able to see if my camper is fastened? Will the wind have an undesirable affect on the angle of the reflective surface? Will the sun blind me—or, albeit, less likely—start a fire?

Will debrief results after a few days of use.

The sun and headlights at night will soon make you dislike the mirror more than appreciate it.
Better to make a routine of a walk around to check the vehicle as well as visual tire inflation and possible obstacles.
"Check your 6"

Full day of maintenance.

Small leak front diff passenger side. Only seemed to leak at higher speeds. Seal was bad.

Replaced seal, drained and filled both front and rear diffs.

Took me all day. First time removing the CV alone and I was very worried about screwing something up.

I am sure the seal went bad because I increased my CV angles when I upgraded to 650# springs a month ago.

I didn't think 5 degrees was all that drastic? I may add a diff drop and see if it reduces the angle.

Also noticed a leak in the exhaust at the clamp after the muffler. Too tired to deal with today. Going to try and address that tomorrow.

Just got back from the UP in Michigan.

The sunset was perfect on our last night!

Slept in the GFC for a whole week too. I can't speak highly enough of the camper.
The UP is beautiful, my in-laws own a cabin up there. Spend a majority of my PTO days up there. Looking forward to ice fishing season

Put on some leashes valve stem caps. Let’s hope one of these doesn’t go missing like the last no leashed set I had on.
