• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Tire Size Fitment and Lift

Anyone running 285 or 295/75R16 on 16x8 -25 offset rims? Currently have 2" lift, wheels on the way and can't decide on the tires.

Bed to cab height difference 3rd gen vs 2nd gen Taco??

I figured. Not trying fit a cap anyway. Looking to get full height rack soon and most companies label it as 2005+ Tacoma and I'm not sure if there will be any issue of rack and roof rack (later) not lining up.

Bed to cab height difference 3rd gen vs 2nd gen Taco??

I know many parts between the two generations are interchangeable but is the distance from bed to top of cab the same on both? Just curious as it may help when buying used parts like full height bed racks, Softopper, etc meant for 2nd gen. I personally never owned a 2nd gen or know anyone right...

    ECGS bushing questions...

Yeah it's the ECGS. I haven't lifted my truck yet but there was definitely slop on driver side axle vs passenger side on OEM bearing. If you do decide to do it, there's only a few things to remove. Remove spindle dust cap to gain access to and loosen axle nut (35mm). Remove two 19mm bolts that...

    ECGS bushing questions...

So I went ahead and did the install. The hardest parts were removing the axle dust cap, having to remove my front skid plate (65 lbs) to pop out the axle and driving in the bushing. I would recommend a race bearing driver cause it made life real easy.

    ECGS bushing questions...

Hey team gonna tackle the ECGS bushing install soon but got some questions before I commit. I received bushing with a dent on the drive end, will it be ok? Is it supposed to have a line (journal) for some reason? Also I have MT, and the the bushing states 2005+ Tacoma, are they all the same?
  14. ninong671

    ECGS bushing (needle bearing replacement)

If I grab it at the side that goes directly into the trans, I can move it vertically and horizontally. This is only on driver's side, passenger side has tighter clearance and no play. No weird sounds when I drive though.
  15. ninong671

    ECGS bushing (needle bearing replacement)

My stock OR has play on driver's side axle going into trans and none on passenger side. Not sure yet if it'll be an issue after lift.

    Wanted LTB: ECGS removal tool

Anyone near Fairfield, CA have one I can borrow? Or someone on T3G willing to ship to 94535 to let me borrow for a few weeks? Or flat out sell for cheaper than ECGS?
  17. ninong671

    Possible lift thoughts?

That's not bad for parts and install. Unless you meant $2600 just for labor only which would be straight robbery.
  18. ninong671

    Lca mods

Are 2nd gen spindles identical to 3rd gen? Wanting to gusset and 2nd gen stock ones are easier and cheaper to find. Curious to know if 2nd gen LCAs will work too.

3 leaf AAL or full leaf pack for OEM King 2.5 and other RR shocks

I got the icon progressive AAL now just waiting on the other stuff to arrive. I haul so much air and I don't want too much lift so it'll do.
  20. ninong671

3 leaf AAL or full leaf pack for OEM King 2.5 and other RR shocks

What's everyone running? Will progressive AAL (no overlad) be better for 30+ mph choppy terrain run vs the full pack?

    Tire pressure

Tried it, lugs are too damn big for it so I couldn't really tell. Lol.
  22. ninong671

    Tire pressure

Would 40 psi be a good area for even tire wear. New to MT tires.

Yeah the max cold psi on the side wall. Not sure what psi I should run for daily. Tried 80 and it's just a little bumpy.

    Extended or Standard, can't decide

Been looking around at different shock options and can't decide if I should get a mid travel since I wanna lift truck later and would end up getting UCAs for alignment issues anyway. Looking to get Kings all around to level truck (1" front, stock rear) at the moment. Will it be beneficial to run...

Do your 285s rub the cab mount at all with those rims? If not, how did you do it? If yes, can you share pics of locked wheel near cab mount? Don't wanna get 265s if 285s will work with this offset.

    Aluminum Skids?

Makes sense cause I had to remove them to make the Mobtown skid fit also. The stock skid and braces weigh 14 lbs vs 59 lbs of Mobtown steel if anyone wanted to know.

    Aluminum Skids?

Does that TRD Pro skid require you to remove the brackets to be able to run it or does it bolt on top like the stock tin?
  46. ninong671

    Aluminum Skids?

At a minimum get a front skid. The stock tin and brackets is so flimsy.
