The 5100s were on Dakar 800 lb in the rear with the OME 887 coils in the front (590 lb). That’s not pictured in either of those photos.

In the bottom photo, it’s still the Dakar 800 lb in the rear with Icon 2.5 remote resi shocks in the rear and Icon 700 lb adjustable coilovers in the front. The fact that they are adjustable and the 5100s technically aren’t is already a convenient way to reduce sag in the front. The adjustment alone is probably enough to get your front sitting where you want it but I would still get heavier coils.

The top photo is what I currently have and the only difference is the 1000 lb Dobinson leaf springs.

Ah. I'm so new to truck stuff. I was like I haven't seen an 800/1000 lbs option yet for the fronts. What you got under that hood? Lol.

Gonna try to ride out the 5100 and AAL. Really trying to skate through this without spending much. Improved function would be nice, but don't know if I'd utilize it. Would swap the rear if I get around to a RTT.

Sorry about the confusion.

By the way, a really simple, cheap, and effective way to control the rear would be the airbags I’m using. Are you familiar with those?

So just the fronts. So extended travel... Little lost about that. Is it ok to ask this on your build thread? Don't meant to clutter it up or be inconsiderate.

It’s fine to ask here. You could also make a thread in the suspension section to get others’ opinions as well.

The extended travel will allow the tires to droop a little further than a regular shock would.

Because I have extended travel, the tires are able to touch the ground in that photo. With regular length, they probably wouldn’t. (I know you’re asking about the front but the same thing applies.)

Yeah, I got that part of it. It was wouldn't it make more sense to just get extended unless there are other applications where the user doesn't want the droop. Faster return at shorter distance? Maybe more race type over offroad? Thanks for taking the time to explain this.

It would definitely make more sense to get extended. I don’t think the price difference is big anyway.

I’m not sure of an actual reason to specifically not want them to be extended but I see what you’re saying with your examples. I personally haven’t heard of any benefits though.

I think they were the same price. Lol. Time to try and sell some gun parts...
Maybe skip on the front bumper caps. Lol.

I've been messing with mine. Keep putting it off. Did some straightening and making bends. Hit it with spray paint and oversprayed.
Waiting on some HDPE sheets to show up to make a whole new fender liner.

Bit of an update on this after today. I cut / hammered a bit more to ensure I will have no rubbing on 37s, even at full lock. I still have to get an alignment (again) that will adjust caster to move the tires a bit more forward.

This is hack job semi-temporary until I get back to the west coast and tub the firewall. 🪚

I just ready through 38 pages and all I have to say is amazing… I love how you had zero f’s to give from day one wheeling it. Great build man. When you leave or get around to it definitely gotta check out the adirondacks and Lake George NY. One day I hope to see your build in person

Thank you! I haven’t read through this thread so I don’t even remember what all of my posts are like. I should probably reread it for the build nostalgia.

I might actually be in that area next week. I can let you know if/when I am and we can definitely meet up.

Check out this little spot call Crane Pond just north of Scroon lake while you're up there. Lovely place. If you have a kayak or canoe, even better. But there's a nice 2-3 mile off road trail with a water crossing and some lovely hiking to enjoy.
