Tyler's #VanLife on 37s Four Wheel Camper Build & Tacoma3G.com Shenanigans

Well I just finished reading all 18 pages of this build thread. You’re actually not too terribly far away from my home back in Massachusetts. Sucks I’m stationed in Texas for a bit longer. Maybe one day we’ll run into each other on the east coast! Can’t wait to see the future mods and the travels y’all go on!

Wow, thanks for taking the time to read all my crap! I don’t think I did a good job of actually updating the thread each time I did something to the truck, but it is what it is.

I’m down to meet up with during my journey!

Side note: Camper is on the truck. Will post about it later today when I have some energy.

I know you are going to be documenting the trip on your site but have you thought about using something like the patch below to check off the states you've visited in the truck

It’s official, The Wandering Winterfields are homeowners! It was a wild six month wait for our @fourwheelcampers, especially since we had never seen one in person. We watched many videos about them but still didn’t know what to expect with the configuration we went with. Let’s just say it is WAY cooler than we expected (not that we had low expectations). We are extremely excited about our choice to have a “blank” interior for us to DIY (not even a furnace), and the black on the tan truck is just perfect. The camper, dry, weighs 806lbs. The @DobinsonsUSA 1000lb leaf springs hardly sagged and I don’t even have the airbags in yet. I already drove the truck 300+ miles and the @nitrogears 5.29s and OVTune still had the truck moving better than stock. @remmenbrakes heavy duty brakes are doing their job well, I definitely needed these. Handling is a little sloppier, almost like not having a sway-bar, but not quite as bad as that. Highway driving went from ~13/14 MPH to 12 MPH. And the amount of people who break their neck to check ‘er out is unreal. @mainlineoverland (located PA and NH) were a killer group to work with and are literal experts on these campers — thanks for the pizza, guys. Lastly, my @relentlessfabrication tire swing-out will need to be slightly modified to fit, but easy enough that I should be able to do it myself as one of my first welding projects. Interior shots and a full walkthrough coming soon!

P.S. Look how much rake my truck had before the camper!

Super stoked for this! Can’t wait to see what you guys do to the inside.

Looks awesome! I kind of like that you got a “blank canvas” so to speak for the inside. Now you can really put your own touch to it

Congrats guys. Now you can work on kitting out the camper while self distancing and then it's time to hit the road!!

Just noticed the leg in the last picture. Lol. Do you guys already have a bench built in?

Thanks everyone!

Good eye. Whoever that was (family were hanging out in there last night), was on the loft bed area lol.

How was the first night in it?
I think it got down to 37-40°. With our arctic pack, we slept without the heat on. The air was cold but under the blankets weren’t. Woke up, threw the heat on for 10 minutes, got toasty and turned it off, hung out for a bit.

The bed is huge and comfortable the way it is but Paige would like to add a foam pad.

Sounds like overall it was a success. Good to hear that it's retaining a decent amount of heat, and that the mattress is already pretty comfy from the start. We're looking at a foam pad ours as well as we like just a little bit more cushion.

Have you been pretty satisfied with nights spent in yours? What have you guys been learning and adjusting?

So far yes pretty satisfied. I do wish it was a bit wider as the dog loves to get right between us. If we put her at our feet it's much better.

Is it just me or does this photo have an illusion that I have a portal axle in the front?

I just opened IG and this is the first photo I see. This is a portal axle to regular axle comparison. Wtf? They’re watching me!
