• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Oh and, sneak peek at what’s going on inside...

Hokay, interior porn:

I removed all of the silver trim pieces and had them hydrodipped in multicam black along with a steering wheel emblem and rear cupholder trim. Homeboy also hooked it up with a custom multicam black hydro flask too. Anyone in the area needs hydrodipping or vinyl work done - go see my boy Pat at Spartan Co. He sells those flasks too.

I also bought a little cap off Etsy to clean up the shifter install. I had to cut the collar piece in half and trim off the sides in order to have the grip sit as low as possible and still be able to shift out of park. MTB grip shifter isn't for everyone but I think it looks wicked cool.

I also installed passenger side seat jackers per my wife’s request. I got the ones from Desert Does It so I picked up their Multi-Mount Panels for both front seats. I plan on putting a holster and extra mag for my carry gun on the driver side and an Element fire extinguisher on the passenger side. They also make these multi-mounts for the back of the seats and I plan on getting those as well because I'm an encourageable twat and I can't say no.

I began wrapping some stuff in multicam black. My first time using vinyl and simultaneously watching my 2 yr old made it a tough job. Did the lower tailgate and threw on the flat letters in matte black from BD Trims. I wrapped the hood scoop and plan to do the hood bulge and mirror caps next week. I also did the roof, I think it came out like garbage but a few professional’s think it looks fine especially for my first go. I may re-do it when Meso has third brake lights available so I don’t have to keep pulling the headliner. Which btw isn’t all that bad but there’s definitely an engineer at Toyota that aught to be shot for requiring the headliner be pulled just to service a brake light.

I’ve got a roll of Suntek PPF on the way that a buddy of mine is going to plot my full truck onto. Hopefully by the end of next week I’ll be able to start on that. It will be worth every bit of sleep I’ll save knowing my paint is protected.

Have some other swag on the way but Runnin 4 Tacos can’t tell their ass from their face right now so it might be a few more weeks before it actually gets here.

More on that later...

Looks pretty good actually. I think you've done a decent job. Where did you order the Multicam wrap from?

Image Craft is the only manufacturer and distributor for licensed multicam vinyl. So if you want genuine, you must go through them.

Thank you. I knew they were only thorough their without dealers, but I hadn't found anywhere aside from the shop that installs that sells it direct.

I worked with Ken Apel for a custom order and he was great. They can print horizontally or vertically, and whatever lengths in whatever percentage you want. I ended up paying about $495 shipped for a 140"x60" roll. Which was more than enough to do my roof, lower tailgate, mirrors, hood scoop and hood bulge.

Before I ordered directly from Image Craft I got a quote from Wraparmor for a precut lower tailgate piece and a precut hood bulge piece in multicam black. Quote was stupid high, like over $550 shipped. I told them they were up in the night charging that and sent them my quote from Image Craft. The pieces being pre-cut is not even close to worth the extra $400. Knifeless tape was like $20 and easy as pie to use.

Finally got my bed stiffeners from R4T. I ordered them in April the same day I received an in stock notification only to be told 3 days later that they were actually out of stock on them and they'd ship out in a week. Two weeks go by and still nothing. Finally had them contact their warehouse and all of a sudden I have action on the tracking number. I like R4T, the stuff they sell, and Taco Twonz's videos are great but this was irritating nonetheless.

I hate the piano stuff because it scratches like crazy. So as a solution for the only piano anything on my truck I decided to put a matte black vinyl sticker over it. I was thinking of putting PPF over it but I think the matte compliments the interior more. This is temporary until I can figure out a way to do some multicam black vinyl that has individual cuts for the gear selections as opposed to one big cut-out.

Took advantage of their 20% off promo and picked up the 'ol Mountain Hatch. I've gotta say I have zero use for this but I couldn't help myself. If you couldn't already tell, I'm a sucker for quick-easy mods.

Just a heads up to anyone interested in a horn upgrade: Amazon has a killer deal on Hella horns. $30 for a pair. I’ve seen them $70 everywhere else so I pulled the trigger on them. I accidentally ordered the Supertones so I’ve got those and the Sharptones on the way.

What's your favorite tone? What's lacking from the factory horn?

The Sharptones are better for sure. The Supertones remind me of European cars. I’ll post a vid later demonstrating the difference. Meso actually has a pair of both on his rig.

The stock horn on the pro is great, since there are two of them. If I only had one horn like the SR5 I would want more. I’m just changing them because they look pretty slick behind the grille tbh.

sweet deal! Your rig is looking way nice buddy

Most of my holsters have the safariland female clip plate but was curious as to how durable/sturdy this would be since its only screwed into the plastic.
I got a bit hot and bothered today with my safariland hoster.. trying to whip something up to hold it instead of molle. I'm thinking a Ram diamond to qls fork adapter... what do you think? I just put this together in cad

Haha nah...he was replying to something I posted on this thread but didn't realize he started another thread. My bad.

Also...so I was looking at some wraps and installs...i definitely am not confident in doing it myself. How long and how well do they last? Local shop said started around $3k for my truck. I thought about full wrap for sake of even changing color of my truck...but...once it peels or chips or whatever...does it rapidly go downhill and need replacement?

Sorry! His comment was the only one on the forum about safariland holsters.. didn't notice right away that it wasn't his thread. Carry on sir!
