    When we had our son in 2019 I had a Mk7 Golf R and my wife had a Mk7 GTI. We both wanted something larger to drive our little treasure around in. I got the Tacoma and my wife got a CX-5. He’s almost 5 now so we decided to dip a toe back into a fun car and replaced her Mazda with a 2024 Mk8 Golf R.

    How long/how many miles did you put on before the code after the initial coil swap? I noticed doing mine some of the wires are kind of tight. I could see something getting pulled too much and maybe causing an issue.

    2020’s don’t have a CD player?! My 2019 does. I’ve been listening to my “old” CD’s for awhile now. I have some music from digital/computer sources on a usb drive that I leave plugged into the truck. It doesn’t have anywhere near the variety my CD’s have. It’s a good supplement though.

    My wife has a 2019 Mazda CX-5. It’s been a good car for the last few years. She works from home so I alternate driving my truck and that. Does anyone have experience with the various Mazda forums? I’d like to find one with the atmosphere of this place. Thanks for any input!

    Sounds like rear underneath. I haven’t gotten under and had someone stand on it yet, my guess is rear strut noise. The sound comes and goes with suspension motion.

    Thanks guys. It is an intermittent thing. Sometimes it creaks when I get in, sometimes it doesn’t. At the last oil change my buddy (former Toyota tech now at dodge) lubed everything up with red grease.

    Performance Coil Packs

    I have them and would recommend them. For me they improved throttle response and part throttle performance which is what I was looking for. Took out almost all of the stumbling and my truck holds gears a lot better. It’s much smoother overall.

    I can’t say it gave any power or mpg gains. I can say for sure it helped with drivability. I drive under 3500 rpm 98% of the time. The small nuances of the light throttle areas are where I pay attention.

    E85/ 88 unleaded.

    E85 is 85% ethanol. The “88” octane that they sell at Sheetz is 15% ethanol which is how it gets the higher octane. Most cars after a certain year (I forget the cutoff) can run safely on E15. You will do damage a non-flex fuel car with E85. Both the engine and fuel system.

    When I got mine (Pro) the guys at the dealer said if I’m going to leave it stock get the Pro. If I’m going to mod it get the off road or sport. I was sold on the color so it was a moot point. Haha

    I would start with the basics as mentioned above. Plugs, air and fuel filters and go from there. A generic OBD scanner should tell you if there are any sort codes (no CE light) in the ecu that might point to a problem. A vacuum leak could also cause poor mileage.
