• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Dual Battery Systems?

I'm a cheapo so I installed a "Battery Doctor" isolator. I used a SDHQ Aux Battery Tray assembly with SDHQ battery hold downs for both batteries......included with tray assembly. Then pieced the rest of it together using circuit breakers, terminals, and wire that I had on hand. Going on a year...

    333 ball joints

Has anyone had any experience with 333 ball joints or have any insight on them? I've been told that Toyota has used them as a heavier duty, oem option. I don't know how much truth there is to that, anyone are to chime in?

I agree with all of the previous answers. One thing to add is, learn the terrain and areas that you're going to. It's really easy to end up in places that you really have no business being in, just because you "wanted to push a little bit farther". Happens to most, even those of us in 4x4's. Pay...

    Essential Camping Equipment

Storage! Storage is your friend. You will accumulate a ton of camping stuff as you figure out what fits and doesn't fit your needs. I'm a simple man, I really like the Plano Sportsmans Trunks. They're cheap, light, come in an assortment of sizes, and stack well. There are better options out...

Bestop supertop or softopper? Which would you pick

Not familiar with the Bestop unit, in person, but, I can say that the fit and overall quality of the Softopper is excellent. I prefer the profile of the Softopper over the Bestop......seems a little tighter, IMO.

    On-Board Air-- Add Reservoir Tank?

I run a Viair compressor mounted just behind the grill on the core support (its nice and compact). Ran it to my auxiliary battery via a switch (in the engine bay) and relay. Don't have a tank, though It would be nice. If and when I do, I'll likely mount it under the bed and relocate the...

  46. Aenriquez

    Are steelies obsolete?

I like Black Rhino's, I really dig the look of the Fifteen52 Analogs. Wheels are so far down the list, though, I have time to contemplate. Maybe a spare set of blocky, grimy 35s on aftermarkets for the shitshow, and a regular set of 33's on OEM's for dd'ing...........because, what bills???
  47. Aenriquez

    Are steelies obsolete?

Coming from the old school, I have my own opinion about steel wheels for off road use. I was always taught that you should be able to fix your junk on the trail, if need be. This included banging out bent wheels with a hammer then blasting the bead with starter fluid (i've had to do it) to...

I like it. Just like any other professional endeavor, you have to keep moving, progressing, otherwise you run the risk of stagnation. Why did you choose the Tacoma?

Tacoma checked all the boxes for me. -Moderate towing and payload capability for utility purposes, given its size. -Offroad capability -Size is perfect for my needs I.e. wheelbase and track width (very important) -And, Toyotas reputation for longevity was very enticing. I'm more of a "drive it...
