This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. I am looking into getting into long off road trips, it may be inevitable that something will break on a trip sooner or later. What are some of the must have tools (outside of what was included with the truck) do you carry on your truck to help get you out of a bind in the back country? I usually carry a tool box with general sized sockets, pliers, zip ties, duct tape, extra fuses, and screwdrivers.

I keep a set or wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchet straps, tow recovery kit with shackles and synthetic line, duct tape, zip ties, tire patch kit, air compressor, my 9mm and sometimes a few cold ones!

At the minimum I always have tow strap and ball hitch, d-rings, ratchet straps, bungee cords, and a knife. For wheeling or camping I’ll add a lot of extra crap that I’ll never use but would regret not having it if I did need it.
