OVTune VF Tuner | OVTune - Tacoma ECU flash tune options and feedback

Screw it, why not..

I'll take it I suppose. Maybe one day you'll have to make policy changes to how things are done like TW and then I'll already be g2g.
Done.

I’ve been meaning to revise the whole vendor system here for a very long time but it’s been a lower priority to me. Eventually…

Ok, let’s get the thread back to tuning.

I have a question for Term Limits....

Was a dyno used to make the Valley Runner maps? Are there dyno sheets for that tune?

I have it and am running it. I like it alot. The only gripe I have is when running high rpm's, it doesnt shift until I get out of the throttle.
Otherwise, the map makes my truck fun to drive again.

Welcome! I’m stoked to be able to get tuned soon. The weight of my truck and the 37s will definitely put the tune to the test.

By the way, do you offer a tune for the group 31 AGM battery?

(I changed your account to a vendor account.)
Thanks Tyler

We do have AGM battery tunes, when you flash your truck please check your set up with a volt meter to ensure the charging. If you need a custom AGM file to facilitate your set up, let me know and we’ll get it sorted out.

We were built between dyno and the butt dyno. We haven’t gone back since the official release m, however it’s scheduled to be done again in the next few weeks along side our 4Runner tune file.

Remember, all the other tunes are done on OV/VF tune and are just further refinements of what Matt has done.

We’ve never purchased OVTune and built everything from stock tune files. Matt and I have discussed this at length before, he has never taken issue with Valley Tuning since we have not piggy backed off his work.

I previously was helping out with the OV Ultimate files before my work took too much of my time. I discovered that the ECU/Injector fuse would blow on trucks running the factory 10A fuse as opposed to a 15A or higher. So I guess that may be why OVUltimate is delayed.

Perks to not using his tunes to my advantage is that we are more than willing to help each other out when issues or questions arise.

Perfect! Would love to see a comparison to a truck with gears and 4.88's and 5.29's with 33's and 35's... but thats asking for a lot. ;) Maybe one day!

Thanks Tyler

Interesting. I wasn't aware of anyone else but OV/VF tune that had cracked the 3G ECU and had tuning software. If I order your tune, do I need to buy your software, does it come with it or do I use my existing VF tune set up?

It’ll be a long day or two on the dyno. Re-running VR for the 2.1 update version, will be running the sport tune, and then swapping to the AWD dyno to run the 4Runner.

It’ll be on a truck running 3.90s and 31.8” tires, essentially bone stock
So if we already have 2.0....do we need to re-purchase for 2.1?

Everyone offering tuning services is using the VFTuner software.

If you order a tune from a VF user, you can use your own copy of VF to flash your truck

Copy. I was confused by the statement “We’ve never purchased OVTune and built everything from stock tune files.”
I think it’s great that Matt has opened this up to others, really allowing lots of good stuff to happen.

Ziggy was correct. We still produce tunes in VFTuner using the stock files provided. What was meant by the never purchased OVTune is that we never purchased OV2.0 files. Our purchases have been the software, pro upgrades, and credits. Taking the included stock files, we developed valley runner

I believe you purchased before the website days. If so, message me on here with your info from the purchase (username etc from other forums) and then the username of the account you create on ValleyTune.com

I will go through and generate a blank order for you to attach your files to that account. You’ll then be able to download your updated 2.1 files

I did download the map from your site, I will have to dig around for my information.

@all tuner members, since some of you guys have been asking — I’m going to create authorized tuner accounts when I get a chance, since there are a handful of you guys here now. I just haven’t had a chance yet.

@Vmart7 @TermLimits @mZiggy @Mr. Nobody

And whoever I’m forgetting.

This should be good enough for now.

I added a different shade of green and “Authorized VF Tuner” text on the banner.

Let me know if you want/need this

No I wouldn't say that at all, but myself and others have been either following the tune development rather closely since whenever we got in (some as early as the very start in mid June '17 or earlier, whereas I got in mid Dec '17 with 1.03) and/or had a hand in the development process. The tune is updated and improved upon via datalogging and community feedback, not solely Mat's own R&D truck. This is especially true for the MT's. He didnt have access to one, so a bunch of us started datalogging to help out.

All that being said, he does jump on from time to time to notify people in TW of reasons for some of the delays and whatnot, and the general goings-on and some of his future plans, like bolt-on parts and a twin turbo kit, as well as other plans for tuning.

So there's a difference between knowing him and the reality of it, which is having had contact with him and even helped a bit with the tune development via feedback and logs, and watching the threads as time goes on and updates are rolled out.
How can I get my hands on this? I’m not worried about a wait, I would just like to get in line🙂

To get tuned, you can either contact someone who is local to you to flash your truck, or you can go to vFTuner.com and purchase the software and then either purchase tune pack for your vehicle to get tuned, or purchase a tune from someone offering their own tunes.

A bit annoying that you can't actually track your order without downloading an iOS app to do it.

Thats a first. Do they have some sort of proprietary shipper or they just don't send tracking outside of their app?

Did you order with or without the Tactrix adapter? That's all you'd be waiting on if you did. The software itself can be downloaded from the homepage but requires a Master Key and username/password entered in to the software to get in. Have you received a Master Key yet?

You can also email their Zendesk with questions.

I have the master key already. So I can use the old orange device that I already have?

Edit: I don’t even know if I put the Tactrix adaptor on this order. Let me see…

I’ve always found the tuning process to be very confusing. Flashing the truck (the final step) is fine, but everything leading up to that part was always a mess, IMO.

You can use your orange adapter with the adapter. That's for your OBD2 port, allows you to connect and monitor, flash, etc. I'd forgotten you'd done the upgrade.

If you have a master key and everything else is set up, sounds like you're ready to go
