Thoughts on Awnings?

only negative to an awning is it kinda sticks out to the side of your truck if youre wheeling tight trails but always good to have shade and protection from the rain! I don't have one atm but I'll probably just got the middle size cvt one

i love awnings i cant wait to get one ones i fgure my rack out , those are massive , super nice , i am personally simple and would go with what ever is effectively easier to setup / require the last amount of effort :sneaky:id be lazy like that , any electric awnings ? hahah

Ive got both a 4' ARB and a Rhino Batwing Awning mounted to the taco...love them both! The smaller 4' awning is almost useless, but the batwing 270 awning is amazing, gives really nice protection against the elements while your using the tailgate etc.

I have a Roam awning. I like it.
If I were to do it again, I’d get their 6ft awning and the aide walls.
Or the ARB equivalent.

orrr get a solid 270° awning.

here is a crappy picture of mine set up in the dark

I’ve used the ARQ4WD 270. It’s solid for the price, sets up fast, and can stand without poles in light wind, but you’ll want to use the poles or guy lines if it gets breezy since the center arm can fold under stress. Kinsmen was top tier, truly freestanding and super durable, but he’s not accepting orders anymore. If you want legit freestanding and can spend more, look at Alu Cab Shadow Awning. It's rock solid but expensive.

I ended up with the old Ironman Deltawing that requires the poles. I got it used for a good price. I think bought the walls for it. It's great easier and faster to set up than a 90 degree awning and with more space. In the rain I have a full room and can keep it quite warm with an ignik ammo can fire pit. If I were to do it again though I'd go with something that had a fold forward aspect as the Deltawing blocks the doors.

I have a 2500 x 2500 ARB Touring Awning. Yea its kinda large to mount on the roof of the Tacoma (but it was new/used still wrapped off a camper, at a dam good price!). I 1st mounted it to a factory roof rack, nope had to change that ! Also I bought the ARB room for it ! great setup, heading out soon with it!

I still like a tarp tied to the truck and compression poles. You can drop a corner to block the late day sun or wind. The mounted, easy ones just work when the sun's overhead.
