This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Got my solar setup ready, just gotta find time to put it together and mount it on the truck. Running into some problems tryna squeeze it between the gun cases on the prinsu.
This is a jab at myself. My solar is still not setup.

What else have I done? I'm terrible at keeping up and I change things around so often.
-went on a great winter wheeling trip with some friends up at BHM offroad facility

-bought a fridge and started my rear seat delete. Got some real fun things planned for this.
20220403_192700.jpg

-mounted my Skyrise to my bedcaps toprac. Had to switch out the stock Yakima mounts, they lifted the tent like 5 inches off the rack and it looked and felt horrible. Used 1 inch prinsu mounts mounted directly to the tent. Feels much better and much more solid up top now.

-aquired a new 8 foot arb awning. After using a 4 footer for 2 years, I cannot wait to use this bad boy
20220401_003657.jpg

-threw on some Falken Wildpeak 285/70/r17's. These things are awesome.
20220318_130808.jpg

-sold my Wilco tire carrier. Only because I just bought a Relentless Fab HC rear. Which I'm super pumped for and cannot wait for.

Got a Decked for a great deal! Also had to get a new exhaust since mime rusted out. Swapped out my Mbrp for an axle dump Mbrp. Went a little bit extra and hit the while thing with like 3 coats of high temp paint and then manifold wrapped it.

Finally had a weekend where I could finish up my solar. Here's the setup: 100w renology panel up above the cab, feeding power into my interstate deep cycle marine battery. Had an old Plano case laying around that i had used as just junk storage that I turned into my battery box. The only thing being fed currently is my CSI fridge. It's been running for a day so far, and 1 overnight and it looks like everything holds up well. This has been planned for a while now, and I'm stoked it's finished!

Big day for the taco! A bunch of goodies came in, to be installed when the temperatures warm up a little. Alcan rear leaves, to replace my overloaded AALs, Alcan u-bolt flip kit with bumpstops, BAMF HD shackles and full poly leaf bushing set to round off my rear suspension. Have the EGCS needle bearing replacement I still gotta do.

Also been looking at repainting my Leer cap and Decked. Both have seen some better days and it's starting to bother me when I look at it.

Another good weekend after letting some parts build up over a couple weeks. New leaf springs and a u-bolt flip kit came in from Alcan. Those will go in when it gets warmer out. Also picked up a set of HD shackles from BAMF. All these paired with the archive Hammer Hangers will replace my toytec AAL, which have pretty much hit their limit after a Decked, tent, HC rear bumper and bed cap. Well speaking of the Decked and my cap, those are off for now while I get ready to clean/paint and repair them.
Also installed the anytime back up camera from anytimebackupcamera.com (specifically (https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/products/anytime-backup-camera)) and it was a breeze to install.

I dig this build man. How is the install for the Hammers? I have a set ready to go in lol.

Thanks! It wasn't too bad. I have access to a decent set of tools, I torched the rivets out fairly quickly. I tried the grinder and air chisel, but man that would've taken a while. My buddy and I knocked it out in under 2 hours but we were taking our time.
Highly recommend. I felt the difference immediately. its wild how planted and sturdy the rear end is now.

Good deal. I have a grinder and long throw chisel.. but no torch. Will see how it goes one of these weekends lol.

Tent got delivered, just in time for me to sand and prime my bed cap. It was plasti-dipped by the previous owner and while I dig the inferno/black combo, the dip has seen better days. Spent 2 days with an small palm sander, got it nice and smooth, and hit it with some primer. Going to sand it again and hit with some Satin black paint next weekend. I also removed the driver side sliding window, going to replace the sliding glass with a sheet of steel, for mounting purposes.

Nothing major, just replaced my shackles with HD shackles from BAMF. Quick easy mod while I procrastinate my way to installing my new leaf springs.

Replaced my maxed out oem leaves+ aal with a set of Alcan springs. Along with their ubolt flip kit. Process wasn't too bad, I did it solo in a few hours taking my time. Stoked! These have been sitting in my garage for a few months while I was waiting for a great weekend to knock them out on, and this was it.

This rounds out the rear of my truck, with the only other thing to maybe do is swap out the rear shocks for something a little beefier, but for now the toytecs are holding up fine.

I took pictures of the Alcan set up on the driver's side and the oem+aal+stock bump on the passenger. (Bolts were only hand tightened at that l point, nothing was torqued to spec yet)

Very nice. Those leaf springs are a bit heavy, and hard to get seated just right. Strong work.

I forgot to also post this, a little pet project of mine:

Removed the glass from my driver's side leer cap, and replaced it with 1/8" steel plate. It's a little lighter than the glass, and it provides great mounting points. It's pretty rough when you look at it up close but for a prototype "Phase 1," it'll suffice for now.

Truck is awesome!!! Fire Emojis!!!

Bought a new fender from Partify.com. Was going around trying to find good prices or anything to not buy a exorbitant fender from the local dealerships. Original plan was to just buy the fender black and get it painted, but I ended up taking a risk and getting it color-matched from partify. Honestly? It came out not too bad. It's only just a shade off, can't even tell unless you put a light on it, and it's probably due to the rest of the truck being slightly faded after 7 years. Pretty impressed, now just got to cut it apart for my snorkel again.

As per usual, I let parts pile up over the winter so I can go wild in the spring.
-New front icon springs and new Icon rear shocks
-Egcs bushing
-CMC plates
-Whole set of replacement prinsu parts to replace my aging bolts

No real updated pics because I always forget to, so here's a random picture of my truck cleaned up for the winter.
