This was my Radio Install

Stryker SR89-MC 10 meter radio power boosted and modded for 11 meter CB use.

Bulk of the radio was mounted under the passenger seat

All the transceiver controls are on the handheld mic. I was able to use a cat 6 ethernet port on the lower console for a clean install.

Using a firestik stainless steel door jamb antenna with quick disconnect bracket at the tailgate for the antenna. The Antenna is a Firestik Firefly professionally tuned by big radios.

This setup works really well for its compact size. I can really reach out and didn't need any extra amplifiers.
 
Transmission cooler upgrade.

Using aHayden 679 and Maradyne 950 cfm fan mounted behind the cooler. The bigger cooler runs inline with OEM cooler. Also running a Wix online magnetic filter. Fluid levels were topped off With Toyota WS ATF.

Cheap summer time towing mod. Using a hitch pin to keep the transmission thermostat open. It keeps ATF temperatures much cooler when pulling load.

I need to get educated in this area, as Off Road communication is new to me

Hahaha I was just giving you shit. When I had my tires mounted a few weeks ago I told Discount not to put any tire shine on them. I was watching through the window and saw the kid about to attack my new tires with that shit so I opened the door to the shop and yelled "I SAID NO GODDAMN TIRE SHINE!" and everyone got a good laugh out of it... until I realized they had already put the tire shine on one of them.

There are ALLOT of options. CB radios are great if you do allot of open road travel. It's a great link to other motorist and every truck driver in America. I've avoided huge backups and highway closures due to accidents just by monitoring 19.
Ham frequencies are nice in that you have repeater access if you have your license but most HAM people usually just want to write down contacts and talk about their antennas and are rarely actually on the road.
Hand-held VHF/UHFs are great tool to have. There are some quality and affordable options and even if your not licensed most will transmit on the FMRS frequencies.

Those are both really good 2 meter 70 centimeter handhelds for the price. The more expensive one has a higher transmit wattage but I've read it really doesn't do anything except kill the battery faster. Basically you just need to turn it on, dial it to the right frs/gmrs frequency and push the PTT when you have something to say. 90 percent of the buttons are for programming channels and repeater access tones, ect. which is way easier on a PC with a programming cable.

If your planning on a camping trip and you know there will be no cell service you can research nearby repeaters and program them for emergency use only without a HAM. You can go full prepper style and make a role up Jpole antenna that you hoist into a tree and really get some reach lol.
