Post the latest photo that you're proud of from a photography perspective. If you wanna get real nerdy with it, share your camera settings / lens / edits you used, and what you like about the photo. I don't have an eye for what does and doesn't make a good picture so I'm looking for tips and ideas as well.

---

I suppose this is one of my favorites right now, but I'm assuming a skilled photographer would see a million things wrong with it?

Oh, man. I do a lot of photography for work but only of things that are no bigger than an inch. I'm useless when it comes to landscapes. I use a Canon EOS Rebel T5i mounted on a rig. Solid camera, but I blew up the shutter from montage imaging. I'm upgrading the system to a EOS R5. I just use my phone when outdoors.

I think that's my favorite shot, composition-wise. If I had a good DSLR I'd play with filters, like neutral density and polarizers. But you can always experiment with perspectives without nice equipment:

I guess I sometimes implement the rule of thirds accidentally. I'm sure we have some skilled folks around here who can share lots of advice.

I bought a 50mm prime lense to play with depth of field. Still don’t really know what I’m doing. Made it 10 pages into a dslr photography for dummies book and got distracted with life stuff.

I try not to go too heavy in Lightroom. My rule of thumb is to edit to the mood when I was there taking the photo. For example, if the foliage was popping, then yellows and oranges and reds need to pop. If I was drawn to the winding trail ahead that dipped into lush green woods, then I try to capture that vantage. Cold and dreary day..dark and moody. Etc etc.

Here’s a couple older shots I really like (haven’t had the camera on most recent rides):

This one too before a Death Valley trip last spring. I don’t carry around my traction boards, gas can or hi lift Jack unless I’m heading out

Took this on a trip to Death Valley. I do t always carry the gas can, traction boards or the high lift Jack. No need to expose them to all that UV and watch them turn white and crumble when I need them

Working on a hot wheel version of my truck. Only need to make a few more bits and it’s done
Had to order the touch up paint to go from blue to the gray metallic. Made most of the things from modeling clay, wire, wood, and a few plastic bits here and there. Did the micro detailing on the tent (tepid logo) and awning. More pics to come

I think this one is my favorite from my most recent trip up to Lytle Creek after installing all the new suspension.

Shot on a Nikon D850 with Nikkor 70-200mm @ 50mm, f14, 1/125. I had my 50mm prime with me but sometimes the zoom is just easier. I will say I'm not the biggest fan of the lens overall but it gets the job done in most situations without too many problems.

One of my my latest pics. Nothing fancy but it just looks good 🤷🏼‍♂️. Been really wanting to get a legit camera for some time now. I’m thinking this Black Friday I might be able to find some good deals

The best camera is the one you have in your pocket ;) Always available! Plus, using Lightroom Express to edit on your phone makes it even better.
