• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Somebody needs to post the wiring diagram (or at least the entire instructions) from the Clazzio kit since that seems to be the most common for questions. Let's work backward on your questions. Note that I don't have this kit, but based on previous questions, I will make some educated guesses...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Switch type doesn't matter. Everything is the same as far as the factory connection points.

That is really weird. I double-checked the URL before I posted and it was working. The site is down for me right now too. Maybe try again in a few days. When I was wiring up my seat heaters and needed the diagrams (that site above didn't have my year if I recall correctly), I just subscribed...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Almost. Mine does not have wiring to the center console. Different aftermarket systems work differently but on mine the electrical goes IE2 through the switch to the aftermarket relay to the seat heaters. My relay doesn't work like one would expect (separate a high current drawn from passing...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Sounds like you are overthinking it. If you already have seat heaters installed, just move the power wires from the USB to IE2 and drop in a relay. The IE2 tap just provides power from the factory location. All the different seat heaters have different wiring but basically you follow those...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

That is the wire. That connector (with the sky blue wire) plugs into IE2. You would be hard-pressed to even see the back of IE2 although someone with an SR didn't have the wire in the front, it did exist in the back.

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

    A. Double check the wiring. I have a 2021 SR5 double cab. It it possible that the access cab (if that is what you have) is different. I might have that wiring diagram somewhere but I only saved the double cab diagrams when I accessed the TIS. B. Yes, you can draw from the same source without a...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Can't really tell anything from the photo but you would have a total of 3 relays. The two that are part of your Clazzio kit and one that is the OEM relay. @Athena32 posted above about a Clazzio install using this technique and may answer a PM.

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

It depends on what the relays are doing. If you read through the thread, you will see that my harness uses the relays to control the wiring path to switch between low and high. Relays are more frequently used to switch high current loads that might burn up a switch. If you have a wiring...

2022 Tacoma OR Interior LED Swap

I embedded the link to a video at the right time to show you where the interior fuse box is (and where the dome light 7.5amp fuse is located). It looks like somebody else posted another version showing you the same. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAEkHB460Zg&t=80s

2022 Tacoma OR Interior LED Swap

The dome light fuse is 7.5amps according to the wiring diagram. You are also looking at the fuse box inside the truck on the drivers side, right?

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

I removed the fused because I was using the factory fuse. You don't want redundant fusing because it makes troubleshooting really hard. You especially don't want fuses buried in your dash. Just use the factory fuse. I didn't have wiring similar to yours. It sounds like your 'on' should be on an...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

No. I didn't. When I was looking at the lighting, I realized that the defroster and mirror heaters were both orange so I figured it was more factory to leave them. I haven't cracked open the switches in a while but when I was playing with the blue LEDs, I bought them from www.KingbrightUSA.com...

Sound of Rushing Air or Spraying Water when Turning Left

Check to see if your condensate drain is plugged. It could be slightly plugged, and the centrifugal force of the turn is helping to free a build-up of water. The water would come out on the left side. I wouldn't think you could hear it though but maybe.

Rear camera relocation while retaining tailgate auto lock/unlock

I have the OEM camera and tailgate lock. Each has an independent plug in the gap between the tailgate and the bed. If you were just relocating the camera, you should have only had to unplug one of those for the extension cable. Maybe you knocked the other one for the tailgate lock loose?

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Mine was not Clazzio but rather an Amazon vendor. The way the circuit works is the switch controls a relay that doesn't work like you think a relay normally works. If you switch it to low, the relay passes +12v to both elements but wired in series. If you switch it to high, the relay passes +12v...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

I would try and use a meter to see if you can find the two wires for the heater itself. I looked at some of the schematics and *I think* one of the wires might be for a temperature sensor. My interpretation is the sky blue (SB) wire and the White with black stripes wire (W-B) are the two that...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

Look at where you plug in the relay. You should see the female portion (metal) of the connector in each of the four slots. If so, double check that the wiring is as expected at the connector. You should have one position that is always hot (from the fuse) and a second that is also hot but only...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

First figure out if the seat heater relay is wired up. It may not be. Or it may be partially wired up. Does your fuse box have a seat heater fuse? I'd start there because if the relay isn't wired, then you are looking at a completely different install.

    Help! 4WD Won't Engage

It still sounds like an actuator issue. If you are confident that the dealer installed it correctly mechanically (and I assume they were more careful the second time), I would look at the electrical going to the actuator. Are the connections good and not corroded? Connector pins fully seater...

    Help! 4WD Won't Engage

One follow-up question, you said that the dealer can't replicate it. Does that mean the flashing indicator sometimes stops?

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

It depends on what they are for. I looked at the Clazzio page and they claim there are only two wires, hot and ground. Did they give you a wiring diagram? Otherwise, take a photo and I may be able to figure out what is going on.

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

As far as finding the diagrams, I paid for access to TIS and looked around the web. Now I don't remember what I got where but I'm attaching everything I saved for the project.

    Lighting Help

That's kind of a dangerous question. Many times it depends on where in the harness you are trying to tap into the system so be careful. Wire colors are reused. It looks like you are messing with the taillights so I am assuming at the taillights or at least somewhere along the cabin area. I don't...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

From the factory, it is a long continuous wire from the switches to the seats. There is a connector at the switches and two connectors (top, bottom) at the seats. I actually redid the wiring to add one more connector under the seats because I thought it would help with running the wires. In the...

Solved Seat Heater (heated seats) installation using factory fuse and relay

There are several threads on installing seat heaters aka heated seats but the ones I have seen, have you tap into the fuse box. I like to keep my installs looking stock so I decided to pull the wiring diagram and trace the seat heater wiring to see what I could find. It turned out that in my...

I'm working on a seat heater install (will post how I wire it later) and needed to ID the location of connector IE2. Between the similar nomenclature and the cold outside, I decided to photograph the connectors and identify them inside. Since I didn't see it anywhere else on the internet, I...

2021+ Stock Radio - Am I missing something?

I have a 2021 with a stock radio that includes Android Auto and Car Play. For long trips, I use the Android Auto and it works fine. Unfortunately, you have to plug it in to use it. Once carsifi starts making a wifi adapter, I'll probably install that and use AA all the time. When I'm just...

I bought the Kikito Hard Tri-Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover from Amazon for just under $500. It doesn't leak unless I run it through a high-pressure car wash (and even then a few drops here and there), is super easy to install, folds up easily, and comes off quickly. My only concern is really...
