• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Wade's Build

It's been a while, busy with work and just other stuff. The bumper was installed after the cutting, of course. I really like it. I don't really like how the winch hook just kind of hangs there, so I may look into some other way to stow it. I ordered the rear bumper, and I ended up going with...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

A dry Saturday with no work! Finally able to make the cuts for the SSO full plate versa! The youtube video for this one had pretty clear instructions, and aside from worrying about messing it up, was pretty simple. I'm liking the high cut on it, and now I need to actually heft the bumper up and...

    Wade's Build

Was finally able to pick up my SSO versa full plate the other week. I got my KC c20 lightbar install on it, and next I'll be picking up my winch. Ordered it Friday from 4WP. I did a search online for the Smittybilt X20 gen3 winch, and 4WP sells them for $730 and free shipping, but they do price...

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

I was able to order the fullplate versa from SSO, and just picked it up a week ago friday. My wife got me a KC c20 lightbar for it, and I just ordered an x20 winch for it that I should be picking up tomorrow. I'm super excited for it! How difficult and/or nerve wracking was it to cut those fenders??

I see what you mean. I took a look, and it doesn't seem it would be too complicated to reach the reservoirs, those little splash guards are moved pretty easily.
  12. SacFett

    Wade's Build

Honestly? I don’t even know. Another reason my wife was right - I have no idea how it’s supposed to be done. I could have removed the old parts and then would’ve been screwed doing the install. Had I been installing them I could very well have routed them wrong. Hopefully the shop got it right...

So I ran it by my wife, and she said NO, have somebody install your stuff that knows what they're doing and that already has the proper tools. So, yesterday I dropped her off at Stellar Built, and now she's got a much prouder stance! I can't wait to take her out and bump around. Next up for...

I could see that, with the downhill recharging. Wade's Build

4WP was the one that quoted the $1300 for the install - 7 hours labor at $150/hr, $150 for the alignment, and $100 for shop fees. That was for just the shocks and springs remove/replace. Stellarbuilt quoted $1580 - shocks, springs and UCA remove/replace, alignment, and cmc w/ plate welded. I...

Can anyone tell me the difference between the Prinsu and Victory4x4 racks?

I have the Victory 4x4 for my truck, love it. Solid. Easy enough install if you have enough light out,. The Victory 4x4 comes with the little strip for under the front fairing, if that's the bit that fourgotten was talking about. There's also the option to get the full fairing or one with a...

    Wade's Build

Yea, the install would be simple enough if I had the equipment and the tools, but alas. I got a second quote, this time from StellarBuilt. They quoted me $1580 out the door for the shocks/springs/UCAs install, alignment, and cmc to fit the bigger tires. The price differenece may just be the...
  31. SacFett

    Wade's Build

It’s for the shocks and springs. It’s only I think $900 for the install, then it’s either $150 or $200 for the alignment, then the remainder is “shop fees.” I’m going to order UCAs and have those installed at the same time, even out that hourly book rate! I’m also going to look at another place...

    Tire Size Fitment and Lift

So I've already got the OME 2" (bp51) heavy duty lift on hand, sitting on the floor in my bedroom, and I'm about to pull the trigger on the tires/wheels. I'd originally decided on the 275/70-17 to go with AR's baja wheels (0mm offset), but was now considering 285/70-17 to put on. From what I've...
  33. SacFett

    Wade's Build

That’s tempting! The cost in gas may make the price comparable though 😆 I didn’t get the UCAs, no. I looked at it and an extra $650 or so. I’m guessing that’s something that should be done at the same time. Does it cause problems down the line without swapping those out also?
  34. SacFett

    Wade's Build

Suspension is in! Now I just have to order those tires and wheels. Didn't realize how expensive this stuff would be. Tires/wheels are going to run about $2600, suspension install quote is $1300 (install, alignment, "shop fees"), plus $400 for a 36k warranty for parts/labor... Good grief.

So the suspension is ordered. They didn't have any in stock, but they said they'd piece it together from whatever distributors they could. Should be in by the end of the week, or early next. Now I need some more OT so that I can afford the tires and wheels!

    Wade's Build

Decided against the RTT. I took it out a few times, and with my easy pop-up Coleman 4-person tent, it's pretty easy to just pop that sucker up and then throw my cot in it with sleeping bag. I got a basket for atop the bed rack, so it adds some storage. Been working some overtime and setting...

Help me choose my lift kit.

I'm a bit late to the game here, sorry. What's the difference between those two options? They're both OME, 2", heavy load kits. but one is $2200 more expensive than the other?

    Issue(s) with tire pressure?

Well shoot. Looks like I’ll be having to remove the tire and check for leaks. Thanks for all the responses folks!
  40. SacFett

    Issue(s) with tire pressure?

Not silly at all, cause I considered it too. So at home it reads that way regardless of if I take the temp in the morning(tire in sun) or evening (tire in shade). Also, when I leave for work (4pm) tire is always in the sun - I always park in the same spot, facing northbound, and it’s the front...

    Issue(s) with tire pressure?

So I have the stock tires on my TRDOR. I've been having an issue where only one of my tires won't hold the proper pressure. Before it's asked, no, the tire doesn't completely deflate. What it does is drops to a few psi lower than all the rest and holds. Regardless of what I put it to. For...

So... After we got back to camp, we made the plan for the night. We'd sup, then as dark fell we'd hike back up to the cemetery. We'd already been there during the daylight hours, had seen where it was, and knew how to get back there. Simple, right? Indeed. So we cook up a couple cans of Busch's...

So on our way back to camp, we cut through the gully and over the brush. As we're walking along I think I see movement out of the corner of my eye. Finally Took the Truck

On the way back, my buddy yells, "Hold up! What's that?!?" Right off the side of the road are some large bones. So we set up camp, pitch the tent, set up the cots, and we're good. We want to hike over to the ghost town and the cemetery during the day time so that my buddy can get some day time shots and videos in for his video. We load up and start hiking over. As we get to the snow part, we decide we...

Inside the International, the old lady working was... different. You could tell it was an old west restaurant, with the bar next door. So the weather forecast for Hamilton on Saturday night was supposed to be a low of about 37F.
