• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

    Shopping for a new Tacoma

I figured. More info never hurts. Bummer that they totaled it out. I feel like insurance companies are a bit hyper active. My truck is rebuilt title because of very similar damage. It cost about 2 grand to replace the bumper and grille + massage out some of the bends in the sheet metal. Pretty...

    Shopping for a new Tacoma

Off road and sport are the same gear ratio. You don't see a difference there except between Auto and Manual transmission. Here is a chart that shows each gear + final drive. I dont have the 4cyl, but I don't think anyone would recommend towing with that.

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Went to crazy town and installed some BD lp9s up front. Which of course required me to build a custom grille to fit the back spacing of them. I think it turned out pretty slick.

Cab Mount Chop Really Needed For 6" Lift?

I'm going to say you'll probably need to do some trimming even with a 6" lift... I'm not certain, but I had to cut extremely aggressively to get my 35s to fit at full lock. You could probably get away with a pretty minimal chop though. Your problem will be more in bumps while turning than just...

    West ISO CBI Bed Bars

Curious if anyone near Utah is trying to get rid of a set of these? Steel or aluminum either is fine. My current c4 bars are strong and work great, but I need more height so I can see under my tent + fit a spare tire in a reasonable manner. Could trade if you're trying to downsize, or just pay cash.

    Dual Battery Systems?

Much less a lean issue than a weak subframe issue. The supports for the battery area are weak as hell on the 3rd gens and tend to buckle and crack. Fixing it is a pita. Found out the hard way with my genesis kit putting too much weight in one place.

I don't think it's anywhere near as sensitive as a Jackrabbit being able to set it off. I've only ever had it beep at me a couple times - in those situations I was already braking, but I could feel that it was trying to add more. I have precolision turned on, but on the lowest sensitivity...

    This is totally accurate.
