• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Update to my build...big changes coming

Been a while since I've posted so heres an update. The truck has remained the same ever since installing my Dirt King Arms, ICON suspension and archive garage hangers/frame stiffener. Picked up an LSK +4.5" long travel kit with a DMZ Fab SUA kit for the rear and all KING shocks from a guy who...

SoCal DMZ Fab Bed Cage - Brand New

Brand new, never mounted, DMZ Fab bed cage. Perfect condition, no lead time from DMZ. I will be bringing this down from Santa Clarita and I live in San Diego, so I could potentially deliver if you're on my way home. Picking up in the next couple weeks.

Shock guards for ICON RXT suspension

Anyone know of any companies that offer shock guards that are compatible with the Stage 2 RXT setup from ICON?

What Engine Air Filter Are You Running?

Has anyone used the Injen intake? It has a vent that takes air right where the radiator is. Just not sure how I like that with potentially taking in dust if you're in a group. Although I am usually out solo. The SB is looks great and offers the closed box which is my biggest want.

Securing your always-on off-road gear (theft protection)

The only issue with that, Is my tire mounts with a rubber cone in the center, then tightening it down. Opposed to other mounts that do use a mounting system of the lugs. I have a feeling the comments of "using a cable lock will be sufficient", but having a chain seems extra secure.

Securing your always-on off-road gear (theft protection)

I am in the same boat as you! Not as much theft (that I know of) in my area, but I have Grabber spare tire mount on a F5 SCS wheel and really wanna get a chain lock opposed to a standard cable one. A buddy has a Kryptonite lock for his mountain bike, but I haven't looked into seeing if that...

Update to my build...big changes coming

Over the holidays I bought myself a lil something! Picked up the Wilco Offroad PreRunner tire gate. Due to the bar that ties in the frame rails, I wasn't able to carry a spare, so that forced my hand on this purchase! I have had it on for about a month now and it is perfect! I leave it angled...

Update to my build...big changes coming

I have been out twice. First time was in the enclosed, juuust incase. We welded the cam gussets last weekend, but the weather and then Superstition Mountain trip put a hold on that. But that is the next thing to go on. I just got my quote from Pro Gear down here in San Diego, so hoping to save...

Update to my build...big changes coming

I knew I wanted all the bells and whistles with lighting, the cool grills etc etc...but FOR ME, there was no point in that stuff if I couldn't go fast across the desert. Now that I have the suspension, I am out driving my stock high beams, so, needless to say, I have started shopping around for...

    Rear Leaf Suggestions

I spent quite a bit of time researching mine. In fact ended up changing my entire front end setup about a week before install. We have deaver on the race truck and LOVE them! Great company as well, so many options out there. Good luck, and can't wait to see the progression of your ride.

    Rear Leaf Suggestions

Depending on the route of your build, such as if you'll be adding on a lot of weight to the rear, you may want to look into the stage 2 RXT setup from ICON. It has the option for an extra leaf as well if you start getting super heavy. I left mine out because I have no weight back there, for now...

Update to my build...big changes coming

I am a little late on starting my build thread, but as the old saying goes, better late than never?‍♂️. I have recently put in quite a bit of work with my truck. But for starters I got rid of the carpet based floor mats and got me some Husky Liners! Great investment, and better than...

    Gear swap suggestions

Like you mentioned too, I just need to find a shop locally that I trust. Have one in mind now, but I'll take a look around as well. Definitely don't want to cheap out on that part.
  51. Taco4Dan93

    Gear swap suggestions

I was thinking along the same mindset of 4.88's in the beginning as I mentioned, but I am planning for the long run of things, and I know armor and bumpers are in the future, so I figure plan ahead and go 5.29's? Good luck with the gears and the build man!
  52. Taco4Dan93

    Gear swap suggestions

Haha talk about it! I am in the same boat as you, probably should've done the gears beforehand, just gotta give it a lil more pepper now. I will probably end up with 5.29's, not really going for the full "overland" setup, but I usually have some weight whether it be camping trips or the quad...

    Gear swap suggestions

I'll be joining you on searching for gear swaps. I just put 285/75/16 tires on my DCLB and when getting on the freeway, I could feel the difference. I also had a truck full of tools as well as 5 wheels/tires. But I have a feeling I'll be wanting to do gears sooner than later. Probably 5.29's...

SoCal ICON Billet Aluminum UCA with Delta Joint - BRAND NEW (Reduced price)

$1,100 - Cheaper than new directly from ICON and as I mention, that's before shipping. I picked these directly up from them so I am not sure of that S&H cost. If you are not in SoCal, lets talk about shipping or meeting half way. Willing to ship at buyers cost. I bought these with the plan of...

Coil bucket gussets for ICON alumminum UCA's

I am thinking this may end up being my best solution, after tabling the idea over the weekend. I want to start this weekend and I am only about 15 minutes away from DK. The ICON UCA's are about $1400 alone, so if they will take them back, and maybe a restocking fee, I'll still be in the green...

Coil bucket gussets for ICON alumminum UCA's

Hey T3G! First post here, so I hope this is the right area to have this thread started. So let me get to it... I am going to install the ICON stage 5 kit with the billet aluminum UCA's. I have also purchased the Total Chaos spindle gussets, but want to add a coil bucket gusset as well. I know...
