• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

That's a great resource. Thanks for the info. I hadn't found anything quite that good in my online searches.

    Ignition coil problems

The new ignition coils were about a year old. The connections all looked good and I double checked them after swapping things out. I'll make sure to keep it in mind, but I don't think that's the issue.

    Ignition coil problems

The other day my truck threw a P0352 code (Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction). Earlier in the year, I replaced my old ignition coils with RIPP coils but kept the old set in my garage. When the code popped up, I put the old ignition coils back and hoping to have fixed the...

E-brake adjustment after rear brake replacement?

I replaced my drums and had the same issue. Was told it would "auto adjust" over time... it did not. I had to manually adjust the drums on the back until I got a good feel from the brakes and handbrake. There is a rubber grommet on the back of the drums that allows you to put a screw driver...

    Bicycle mounting solutions

I don't have a photo readily available at the moment. However, I currently use 1UP bike racks on top of KB Voodoo high rise bed bars with the OEM tonneau cover. The bikes sit over the bed on either site of my roof top tent. With this set up I'm able to keep both wheels on the bike and off road...

OVTune VF Tuner | OVTune - Tacoma ECU flash tune options and feedback

I flashed one of the OV Tunes when the truck was still stock and really enjoyed the tune. After the lift, 34s, and 5.29s I flashed the truck with the new corresponding OV Tune and was hugely disappointed with its performance. Not long after that I installed the Rough Country inline speedometer...

    Deaver Expedition Springs?

I'm debating between Deaver Stage II or III leafs for my truck. Their description says a "bed weight" of 400-600 lbs and 700-1000 lbs respectively. My question is in regards to how they define "bed weight". Is bed weight defined as all additional weight added to the existing truck or does it...

    Curbside Inferno

That a7C looked like a solid camera. I'm sure you'll put it to good use while out and about with your rig. Looks good on the 37s by the way.

Winter tires -- are they sticky?

I ran a set of Cooper ATW3, their winter tire, for 2 years/35K miles. They did excellent in the winter and decent of road in the summer. They handled wet roads really well in the summer but got slick when it got a little tougher off road. Their compound was definitely softer and the tread wasn't...

    Tire Size Fitment and Lift

I've got a high clearance front bumper so there isn't anything left for me to rub on in the front. You may have to do something like the "viper" cut. There are a few videos on here about that particular cut.

    Maintenance Revving at idle

Lately its been about -30F in Montana. When I'm idling, slowly moving in traffic, or completely stopped my truck will start to rev up to 1500 rpms and immediately drop back down to normal. If I'm moving the truck will lurch forward a bit then go back to normal. When I start moving at anything...

    Tire Size Fitment and Lift

I have pretty much this exact lift and tire size. In addition to the CMC I had to fold the pinch weld over or I'd rub when turning over bumps. I'm running my caster around 3 degrees on Icon UCAs so if you can squeeze out some more that might help you too.

    Pinch weld

I've just fitted 285/75/17s on my truck with an Icon stage 4 lift. The CMC and fender trimming is done as well. The last real thing I need to do is the pinch weld. That being said does anyone have any tips on how to bend the pinch weld out of the way?

What have you done to, or with, your Tacoma today?

Finally got my lift and new wheels put together. Every single part that I've added to this truck has been done curbside, mostly in the cold Montana winters. Over a couple days the Icon Stage 4 lift and 285/75/17s went on the truck.

What was your previous rig before your Tacoma?

I was and sometimes still am rocking a '91 Isuzu Trooper and a '91 FJ80 Landcruiser. Bone stock that Trooper is one of the toughest little SUVs I've ever driven and the Cruiser is a tank. I'll try and find some pictures in a bit.

Ya, I've got that bumper on my cruiser and it is solid. It's a bit bigger than what I am looking for on the truck though. Thinking about going with a CBI T3. It's steel and has a more sleek design.

    Curbside Inferno

Thanks man. These trucks can take a solid hit. The future definitely holds a steel front bumper with full bar work. Hopefully that will give even better protection.

Back in February I managed to find a trophy Mule Deer while going 50 in a snow storm across Montana. Without the brush guard up front the truck would not have driven away from the wreck. 285/75/r17 Wheel & Tire choices?

I am planning to install an Icon Stage 3 lift soon in order to fit 285/75/r17s on my DCLB. I am looking to keep the poke minimal, around 1" or less is the ideal. My question has two parts: 1. With that poke in mind, what offset/backspacing would I be looking for? 2. Does anyone have a wheel...

    285/75r/16 upgrade questions

I live in Montana so I'd like to be able to tackle some chunky forest roads if need be, however this truck is still intended to be my daily driver. 285/75r/16 upgrade questions

I've recently got a '17 DCLB TRD Off Road and want to move up to a 285/75r/16 wheel size. What are some recommended lifts, with or without cutting, that will allow me to run this tire size? I'm currently running 265/70r/16 with stock suspension. -Thanks
