• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Reference Ask a beginner question, get a serious answer!

How often do they recommend that?
Hmmm that's debatable , I'd say once every 5 -10 years . But it really depends on were you live and drive to . I live in Vancouver B.C. and the city is constantly growing and expanding new roads being made, new highway exits and entrances , new intersections new buildings and address. so those stuff wont be showing up on my navi thus forth I would need to update more often, as my map is a 2017 version

How ever if you live in a rural area and nothing changes or rarely deos then wouldn't need to uodate often.

More factory navi updates are usual 200 bucks and up I believe, however some dealers may give discounts etc...
On a bonus side your phone goes and map update for free so use that when your OEM navi is outdated
Sorry for the long stink hope it answers your qeustions

I am going to be getting a used Tacoma in the near future, I am looking at a few now one that is a good deal with all the options I want has one problem. It has the orange trim on the interior on the dash. The question is, can I easily (key word here) change the color of the trim?

Few questions...

1. ) Is there a way to have the vehicle doors auto lock upon walking away from the vehicle (smart key)?
2. ) The maintenance shit in the fancy head unit... none of mine is updated as to when I should be getting service done, is that shit I have to put in?
3. ) How does one get sponsors to help them build a truck with discounted prices on parts? :)

1 in you head unit you can set auto lock after Xx seconds after engine off
2 as far as I'm aware you have to manually input the schedules
3 some company's request vehicles as test trucks while making parts then you will receive a discount, most companies would probably require you to have huge followings on social media and require many photos and updates and usage reports out up to spread the word , many forums have group buys and vendor discounts as well . Some how bring fame to you and your truck to also get noticed by vendors

I'll have to take a look when I get into the truck after work and I'll just make my dealer input that shit lol

I swapped it from 60 to 30 seconds last night, walked away from the vehicle and after 30 seconds, nothing... no door lock sound, no beep like normal.

That setting is if you hit the button to unlock and don't open a door, it will re-lock itself after 30 or 60 seconds.

How far did you walk away?

I dont think it will arm or auto lock in that sense if it's still "sensing " the fob especially since they have a "courtesy light feature "

Well damn... I just want it to automatically lock... :(

I was about 50 yards away?

Last night I was putting some stuff back in my truck and has some rope I wanted to throw in one of the bed cubbies and I noticed there wasnt the large cubby on the passenger side of the bed. It was dark, and I looked super quick but I swear it wasnt there. Should it be there? I swear every picture I have seen has one on both sides.

The longbed has one on both sides and the shortbed only has one on the passenger side. But you have a longbed, don’t you?

I do have the Long bed.

I meant I don't have one on the drivers side. There is the small one next to the 110V outlet but nothing on the other side.

That is odd for sure. Check one more time, maybe you missed it. If it’s really not there, I guess they took it out? Is it a 2019?

Yes 2019. I will check again after work but I am almost 100% positive it was just a smooth side there.

The fuck did Toyota do?
Cost cutting probly trying to save some money after making "safety sense" mandatory in all models, I'll bet they cut out a few other things here and there as well

@JamesR913 James
You can always buy the cubby and make a hole for it
