• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Which suspension are you running & why?

King 2.5 EXT (with lots of extras) ... because jumping/dune driving mixed with daily driving (35K miles a year)!

Didn't need anything crazy (I'm in FL) so I went with the Eibach Stage 1 lift paired with an Icon 3-leaf AAL. Definitely the best budget setup out there and paid less than $1k total. Got just about 2" lift and was able to keep it aligned properly with stock UCAs.

I’m running Bilstein 5100s in the front with OME 887 coils, 5100s in the rear with OME Dakar heavy leaf pack. I’ve had this setup for almost two years now on two different Tacomas and I couldn’t be happier with it. I’ve done the same trails with guys running King and Fox and Icon, and have kept up just fine. Hells Revenge in Moab, Black Bear Pass in CO, you name it. It’s held up, and for under $1500 in parts, can’t beat it.

wanted a performance oriented truck with out losing truck capabilities so why I chose above awesome on and off road and it delivers don’t have pic of truck with my coils jacked up.

Recommend new UCA’s with this setup ?
Or can you get away with keeping the stock ones (at least for a bit)?

I think most people recommend UCAs for the extra travel. I’ve used the stock ones this whole time and haven’t had any issues. I’m just now getting some new ones to see if it makes a difference.

Good to know ! ill likely run the stock ones for a second so glad to know I can do that lol

I went with an OME BP-51 2,5" kit with SPC UCA's. My reasoning was simple Old Man Emu is part of the ARB family and began in Australia being well known for outstanding engineering solely focussed on Toyota. The shocks are fully adjustable and built like tanks. When off roading I tend to drive fast and have driven in excess of 100mph with the truck riding like a Cadillac with zero fade whatsoever. On road the truck also rides like a Cadillac, I can't recommend OME BP-51 enough.

Do you still have this set up? How is it holding up? How is the ride compared to stock?

yes and its great, only thing I want to change is rear end, see how I feel after I get my 35's, compared to stock is night and day, way more plush on road and shines off road, Highly Recommend Coilovers up front. unlike the cheaper options these will last life time of truck due to all the shocks being rebuildable you can re valve if your un happy, worth the extra money in my opinion.

I feel like that’s a topic that everyone should talk about why did you go with a specific lift?
I was very content with my OEM Off Road Bilstein shocks, but wanted a small Lift. So I settled on 5100's up front, and a 1" block in the rear. Because the 5100's in the rear dont offer a Lift, I kept my stock OEM OR rear shocks. Also kept the OEM stock coils (as per Bilstein's recommendation).

Rides great, looks Lifted and is a much better option than a spacer Lift. Would do the 2/1" again....

Dobinsons MRR coils 700lb springs, Deaver stage 3 leafs, Archive Garage U-Bolt flip, SPC UCA( soon to be swapped), Yokohama Geolander MT 295/70/17. Setup is perfect, it’s a little stiff but I have an RSI cap on order

I have Toytec Aluma 2.0 with matching rear shocks. 1" block in the rear. Wheelers bump stops. 90% of my driving is highway. But it does perform great off road! It's set to around 2" lift in the front. Eventually when I get a bed rack/topper I'll go with a full leaf.

Lies. You did it because they are nice and you are super rich.
I would have loved to get them, but I was cheap. So I went with the 6112 and Icon AAL as they seemed like the best price to utility/height ratio.
Just need rear leafs.

ICON Stage 3 and ICON AAL. I have very credible first-hand evidence/experience that this setup works very well on the Taco. Someone I know very well and trust has been running this setup for over 3 years on all of his Taco's. He is an expert off-roader and instructor. The entire setup was under $2,500. I added Archive Garage U-Bolt Flip kit and superbumps.
