• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

What is the use case for this hook?

I was looking for new and interesting crap for the truck on Amazon while I was supposed to be editing videos or working when I came across this:

I'm trying to figure out when this would be perferable to a D-ring shackle mount. You can only use it with tow straps and I was under the D-ring was the way to go. This seems less safe. It does look more badass though. Like the front end of a Warthog from Halo. Is this one of those ascetics over function things?

They use them to loop a strap over and pull. Same as the shackle hook but with the added benefit of being able to slip off randomly.

come on guys. its all wrong. that hook is supposed to be put on with the pointy side down to carve a groove in the earth when going down slope so as to facilitate the next person in seeing the line on a steep transition.
