Try attaching a magnet to it. That will tell you whether it is ferrous metal or not. If it's not, it might be stainless. Which has a higher scrap value than ferrous metal And, do you really think a scrap yard is going to be the best one to give you an honest answer?

I want to say low grade stainless. I've only been seeing the flanges rusting.
