• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Currently sitting on 5100/887/AAL without overload spring.
Have bumper, sliders, roof rack and full sounded deadened interior. Possibly add a winch later.

After extensive research I decided to go with 6112's for price and durability.
Don't hate me Tyler. Haha.
Was pretty set on the Icon 2.5 Extended Travel - 700lbs. I decided against it due to reported leaking issues and some of the other horror stories (Broken Top Mounts). With my luck, it would become a nightmare and I didn't want to rebuild them every 40k miles as Icon suggested/recommends.

Wanted the cheapest solution with room to grow. Don't drive much in general. I hate driving. Just hard park it.

Figured I could just slap on the 6112's on front. Upgrade to the 650lbs coils on the 6/5 coil settings. Should compensate for the driver lean and allow me to ditch 1/4" driver side spacer.
I've seen a bunch at 6/6. 6/5. 5/4. With and without spacers. Some have spacers on just the driver side for the lean. Some have it on both sides.
I realized when I had the SSO and Stage II on, the passenger side was right up against the bumper and it pushed the plastic up which threw it all off. It wasn't until after I sold the bumper that the spacer would have raised the driver side. So I want to ditch the spacer or possibly go 5/4 on the coils and add 1/4" spacers on both sides to maintain the lift and also have the travel while being level on both sides.

For the rear, I'm going to run the 5100's and add the overload spring back in for the 2".
Later on swap out the 5100 for the 5160's.
From there get new leafs. Between the Icons or the Dakars.

Think this would be enough for a little lift from where I'm at now and keep it pretty level? Anyone have pics on 6112's?
What's your setup? Coil settings? Spacers? Rear? Weight add-ons?
Have a Carrier Bearing Drop. Will I need anything else? Sway Bar Relocation Kit?

Just ordered the 5160's and 650 springs. Already ordered the 6112's.

I felt like the price was good compared to what I've been seeing.

6112 - $732
5160 - $249.99
650lbs Springs - $166
Shipping and tax. Handful of the big vendors charged tax. When they gave % off, they charged shipping.

Bilstein B8 6112 - 47-234413 - $692
650lbs Coils - 53-291387 - $166
5160 - 25-242379 - Rear Left - $199.99
5160 - 25-242539 - Rear Right - $199.99

$1256 total. I think that's pretty good. No tax or shipping charges. Hopefully the 5160 order doesn't get canceled.

Who did you order through, and did they give a delivery timeline? I want to do the same configuration. Thanks in advance.

I emailed Jack It and was told 4-8 weeks.
Haven't heard back from GAP Tuning yet.
No big deal to me. I'm waiting on stuff anyway. Seems like a lot of places are backordered. Most that have them in stock charge tax and/or shipping.

Both sites gave free shipping. No tax.
Spring + 5160's were over $500 for the free shipping on GAP Tuning's site.

6112 - $40 off code.

Well, it's been a bit and I keep seeing other places get them in stock and sell out. Gonna try and cancel my orders.
Found a few deals and would come out to a little more. Still debating on going 6/6+spacer or 6/5.

I placed my orders for the 6112/5160 and B12 650 Spring 7/27 from the 2 shops listed above.

6112 - $692
B12 Coils - $166
5160 - $398

$1256. I probably could have gotten it sooner, but I was so stuck on saving the $50-$60.

9/12 - I was being impulsive. Looked around and found some places that had it in stock.
Bilsteinlifts and Shocksurplus has stuff in stock.

I canceled all my previous orders and re-ordered. Came out to $1242.08.

Update. Was lucky to slip in and grab everything.
Total of : $1332.72

Figured I'd grab the sway bar relocation. Was $22.15 on eBay. Made in the US and included the hardware. New leaf spring bolts for the rear to throw the overload leaf back in. New top hats so I could keep the 5100's assembled for easy sale.
Going to "buy" a spring compressor from Amazon. Loaner program right? ;)
The bad part is the finish on the B12 springs was boogered up part exposing metal. It bothered me. So add on $120 for fresh powdercoat. Would have just ordered again but everyone is on a 3 month back order.

Grand Total : $1542.72

Not bad at all.

650lbs Coils - 53-291387$154.38
Powdercoating$120
5160 - 25-242379/25-242539$406.94
Bilstein B8 6112 - 47-234413$680.76
KYB SM5640$49.42
Sway Bar Relocation$22.15
3/8" x 6" Leaf Spring Bolt$19.07
Strut Assembly$90
