• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

Hello Tacoma3G Family!

I dont get onto the forums much but I thought I would start with an Intro of myself and my build of a 17' Taco.

In my day-time job I am a product designer, designing medical displays for tradeshows, educational trainers for surgeons, etc. I live in Holland, MI and am one of very few Tacoma's that are out here in west Michigan. I am starting up my own company in my free time called "New Holland Overland". We will be developing and manufacturing off-road tailored trailers for the Midwest community!

For my Taco build I started with a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Bought brand new off the lot in December 2017 (Had her for about 14 months now). In the last 2 months of 2019 she got quite an update with suspension, wheels and tires, armor, bumpers, etc and the build keeps on going.

Thanks guys! Its been a dream build of mine for the Taco so far.

Ill post some more photos next week in the misc. build thread for the trailers. We just signed a partnership with Dometic and Yakima so we have all the dometic gear, just waiting on Yakima. We are wrapping up the design of the galley (kitchen) this week, so photos will be posted on the Instagram first and then Ill share them here!

Update on suspension: Installed front limiting straps (Mid travel setup)...went with an 11" strap but were gonna have to go down to a 10" at some point to gain back some adjustability in the clevis.

Im happy though! Plus my welds are getting a lot lot cleaner.

Eventually we will box the frame in the rear to mount the rear clevis and limit straps to...but thats for another day!

Another update on body work: With my company "New Holland Overland" we will be wrapping out vehicle this summer and here is the concept so far :D This will not only help us identify on social media and local followings, but also protect the vehicle a lot better from pin stripping and paint/body damage.

Let me know what you guys think of the wrap concept!!!

Absolutely loving my rock sliders from C4Fabrication!! Getting their use bouncing off some tight trails...the powder is showing a lot of wear though, have to figure out a way to restore the "black" in the powder...probably will just hit it with some flat black paint unless I find another option. One day theyll get linex'd

try some Steel-it spray. I just used it for my fuel tank skid. it's a pc substitute.

Hey man, welcome to the forum. Glad to see you finally here - I've been following your build since I started the T3G Instagram. That wrap looks sick.

Very thorough and super nice build man. Been following for a bit on the gram and very impressed. Nice looking camper too that’ll be cool when it’s done!
Aw thanks for the follow man :D Hopefully we can do some more fun stuff to the taco throughout the summer!

I cant wait to get the camper finished, we are building the frame today and should have it rolling this week (if everything goes to plan) :D

Had an amazing weekend on the dunes (Silver Lake Sand Dunes)! This upcoming weekend I will be completely 100% redoing all the wiring in the truck...a daunting and time consuming task but who doesnt love a completely neat and tidy wiring job.

Any recommendations for dual battery setups or Group 31? I badly need a solution soon with all the lights and winch and accessories the truck is running.

Picked up an awesome new roof rack yesterday! Got to visit Brian and Daryl at Victory 4x4's and JCR's headquarters in Portage, MI. Awesome group of guys who were a ton of fun to chat with for a few minutes!

Tonight we vinyl wrap the roof in gloss black, then install of the victory 4x4 roof rack system :D

Some things ill be adding to the roof rack system are the recovery boards (Theyre X-bull, they work but theyre cheap and kinda ugly), baja design S2's, 40" light bar (Might just go with something cheap thats temporary), solar panel, and rotopax! While still leaving space for the kayak to fit up on top of the roof snuggly
