Thule TracOne mounting questions

I just picked up a used Thule TracOne bed rack for $25. It came with the stock domestic pickup clamps, I see I can buy Thule branded adapters for $125 online.

My question is, can I use other clamps with success? Has anyone else on here used generic canopy or other clamps for similar racks? If I can get a set of clamps for $30-50 vs $125 that would be great!
