New member here and equipped with flame suit. Have spent way too much time reading posts on TW and got an invite here so I thought what the heck, let’s give it a try.
New 2020 TRD OR and wanting new tires. Stock suspension and no plans to change that. Was thinking 255/85/16 but have read they will rub. Trying to get a firm answer on 235/85/16’s. Pictures would be a huge help!
If not those, 2nd choice would be 265/75/16’s. I think they would work with no rubbing from what I have read. Thanks in advance! Pic for reference

Well I am just going to pull the trigger and order up some STT Pro’s in 235/85/16 and roll the dice tomorrow. Can’t read another post... Pics and review after I get them on.

I think you'll be okay. When I was comparing the tire sizes you're looking at, it seems to both be at about 31-32" diameter of a tire, provided different brands have different sizes when actually measured. 265/75/16 is the closest to the stock tires I had at 265/70/16.
 
Don’t be afraid of trimming a hair off your fenders and front bumper. If you use appropriate technique, it’ll look stock.

I wouldn’t even know where to start doing that. I hope I don’t have to go down that road. If so, is there a thread that shows how to do it?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much until and if you have some rubbing. With your tire size it should be minimal if any. A heat gun might be all you need

I ran 255/80-17 (~32.8", same as 255/85-16) Cooper ST Maxx mounted on FJ Cruiser steel wheels 17x7.5 15mm offset (4.75" BS), on my 2nd gen with tired front shocks, your truck should have more clearance. I think they barely rubbed while lower than original height as I said.

235/85-16 or 235/80-17 will fit easy, as will 265/75-16 or 265/70-17, these are all about 31.7" diameter

Thanks for that! I have no plans to do a lift until suspension gets tired. 👍🏻
 
Well here it is. They are skinny but just what I need here in Michigan. I can tell that it is a little less “peppy” with the added rotational mass. Over happy as there is no rubbing at all 😎

They look great. Thanks for posting pics. Been thinking about doing the exact same tire size on mine. I’ve just never been able to find any good photos of a 3rd gen with that tire size.
Question: With a stock lift there is no rubbing? Even at full crank? Are you still happy with them now that you’ve had them for awhile?

pretty much any size bigger then your stock tire will probably rub. its all about how you trim, and lift to get not to rub
