That is absolutely correct...next on the to do list is gears. I’m torn though...book says 4.56 is the way to go but I keep seeing/hearing not to waste my time with those and do 4.88.

4.88 and 5.29 are the two main options on the market for these trucks. I suggest 5.29 if you think you will ever get bigger tires. If you are regearing anyway, you might as well future proof it. With stock tires, 4.88 would be better.

4.56 is pretty much irrelevant here.

what if your not planning on up grading tire size and keeping it stock? is it really a necessity? sounds good in all the videos i watched

I wouldn't say it's a necessity, but I would say 4.88s would be a definite increase in driveability. If I were to have kept my truck mostly stock if I would still seriously consider adding 4.88s cuz they're just such a better upgrade over the factory gearing.

The choices entirely up to you. They're obviously extremely expensive for anybody. They're definitely an upgrade, whether they're worth it to you or not that's up to you.

So r they saying the truck isn't powerful enough or is it just not using the engine efficiently with the gearing? I've noticed the rpms but I haven't noticed any lack in power

I think it's a poorly combined gear set with a motor that's designed to make power by being very high in the RPMs. A motor with the power lower in the RPMs is always much better for a truck.
