Hey guys!

Creating useful content on YouTube for the Tacoma3G community is something that I have wanted to do for a few years. But I'm very particular with how I present content under the T3G name on the website and social media and I also have a lot of pet peeves with the way popular YouTube channels are presenting their content nowadays. So I put YouTube on the back burner for a while.

Now that T3G is more seasoned, and because I've been dabbling into the YouTube scene with my personal road-life content, I think it's time we get T3G and its community on camera. That is, as long as the content is free of the fake YouTuber personality bullshit, useless 5 minute intros, clickbait thumbnails/titles, and biased opinions due to sponsorships.

Our content will be honest, informative, funny, and to the point... without the YouTuber fluff. The topics covered will be whatever you guys are asking for at the time and not manipulated by what YouTube's algorithm expects. I would also love to get you, the community, directly involved with and included in most of the videos. This could even mean creating your own video to be uploaded on our channel, representing T3G and your personal alias at the same time.

With that all being said, I have a few questions for you guys...
  • What type of broad topics would you be interested in? (e.g. trail footage, truck tours, tutorials, reviews, etc)
  • Any specific topics? (e.g. specific trails, specific members' trucks, specific tutorials, specific products?)
  • Is there anyone already interested in creating content to be shown on the T3G channel?

Lastly, as I'm new to being in front of the camera and editing videos (it feels WEIRD talking to a camera), I'd love to hear your honest feedback on the tour video I just made of my truck's camper. Where can it be improved, do you think it's suitable to be a T3G channel, etc. I would really appreciate your suggestions so T3G's content is presentable.

I hope T3G videos are something you guys will be interested in and I really look forward to the potential content we can create as a group!

This is a great idea!

im ready season 4 GIF by SpongeBob SquarePants

This is a good idea.

One of the things I’d like to know is where people wheel/off road that isn’t the main hot spots. Although it might not be something you want to share with everyone as well.

Rig/truck tours and walk arounds are nice too.
I’m sure I’ll think of more input.

I watched tons of install videos before working on the bumper, front and rear suspension.
I watched Tyler's rear spring install before I even knew it was Tyler.

I'd rate my watching habits
1. How to install
2. Trail reports
3. Rig walk around
4. Girls doing anything without bras

I love it all but I really enjoy seeing these trucks off road and I watch a ton of off road recovery videos as virtual practice.

Truck tours are cool but I like seeing trucks in action. I watched tons of install videos but the more the merrier as people will always need them and will always be adding on mods to these trucks.

Really GREAT idea!!! Would be great to have one stop shopping for all our video needs to include installation, product reviews, trucks in action, and miscellaneous content that my little brain housing group can't think of at the moment.

You know what's weird? My install videos get WAY more hits than my adventure videos even though my adventure videos take far more effort. I'm not sure if the other guys with channels see this trend as well. Frankly, my install videos are the worst. I'm actually going to start putting PSAs at the start of them explaining I have no idea what I'm really doing.

Good idea, low cost mods

Wow, I’m overwhelmed with the positive feedback this got, both in here and in email replies.

Thanks for letting me know what you’d like to see the most.

And don’t forget, those of you who already are or would like to start making your own video content here and there will be able to be on the T3G channel too (while promoting your personal pages if you’d like).

I’m onboard for more trails and titties.. extra credit for combining the two.
Hell yea!!!! Though I'm an ass man.

Does any of this get us banned? 😂

Let's see what happens.

Yup its right in the forum guidelines, I wouldnt test it lol

Great Ideas!
1. Install mods
2. Trail reviews
3. Rig tours
4. Mod reviews and comparable equip
Trail reviews is a great idea.

I really like how you mentioned comparable equipment. A lot of people will focus on one option but don’t mention alternatives in the same video.

Maybe a tool section as well?
Really cool idea. Never thought of that.

The problem I have with the titties part is who is NOT doing that on YouTube to get views and money at this point. It OBVIOUSLY works well and it can be fun to watch (I definitely still click them) but it’s so damn played out now. It’s so forced.

Check out mr. and mrs. Overland. They are swingers.
Yup, lol. It was only a matter of time until overland porn was a way to make money.

Great idea, do it!

It'd be cool to do member features. As you bee-bop around the country, come visit some of us or regional meet ups or something.
Agreed. I’ll be in a great situation to be able to do that and video or not, it would be super cool to hang with as many of you as I can.

There used to be a hidden opt-in forum here called Controlled Chaos. It had almost no rules and had plenty of NSFW content.

I eventually decided that even though it was opt-in and I’m personally down with NSFW content, this is not the place for it.

We are a professional and friendly website. Not a toxic one which to me is more fitting for NSFW threads.

The photo you had in the post, while not full nudity, really doesn’t add anything to this thread or any other thread about truck stuff.

You are right. I apologize. I didn't read the guidelines thoroughly enough but that's no excuse. I will refrain from this in the future.

always enjoy trip reports and trails worth visiting, as well as places to visit, for sure also gear that make camping trips easier
looking forward to this!
Love to hear it. Thank you.

Wow. It's really awesome to see you guys so fired up over this. I didn't know that the demand would be this high for YouTube content. I think one of the things that makes me the most excited is seeing member driven content. Whether that's content members have created directly, or content that they have suggested doesn't matter as both seem really cool to me. I like the idea of the YouTube being driven by the members of the forum.

I will be working on a T3G introductory video soon and I think it would be cool to add short b-roll clips from you guys throughout the video.

If you have any clips of anything at all related to this hobby, let me know now or just keep it in mind for when I might need them.

Any community content will always be clearly credited to the creator and link back to your personal social handles.
