Suspension lift

1️⃣ Getting Started...
I have a 2022 Tacoma TRD Sport. I want to give it a mild suspension lift for moderately larger wheels and tires. Can anyone recommend what would be best without modifications or geometry issues?

Sky's the limit really. Budget minded lift would be 5100/stock springs (good for stock height to 3"). I picked up my 5100's on super sale for $280 in the front only. Rear shocks go for about the same. My truck is lifted about 1 7/8", I clear 265/70/17's just fine. I cleared them stock height. I was at 2" lift before.

If you plan on lifting higher, you might look into upper control arms to correct some geometry.

I'd also recommend to do the front differential needle bearing on the drivers side, replacing with a bushing from East Coast Gear Supply. When you lift IFS it can bind the front CV, causing the needle bearing to have excessive load.

What is your budget for the lift? What are your plans for how you are going to use your Tacoma (just for looks, high speed offroad running, rock crawling, forest roads...)?

If you want to maintain a decent ride and do not want to spend a ton of money to do the lift, I recommend a maximum of a two-inch lift. Once you go higher than two inches the limited down travel hurts the ride quality and can also hurt off road performance.

I have a 2023. They offered a “factory lift kit” when I bought the truck new.

Last I saw, they were advertising it could be done on any 3rd Gen regardless of when you purchased it.

The dealer installed it. They charged me $3000 at the time. Kept all warranty. Also had them replace the wheels and tires. New tire size is 275/70R17.

Was 2” in the front and 1” in the back. They used Fox shocks (sorry don’t remember the model).

But also would ask the same question Bottman asked. What’s the planed use? I’ve since changed rear leaf springs, now knowing better how I use this truck.

Food for thought.

Before and After. (Wow have there been a lot of additions since then!)
