Hey folks,
Hope you’re well! Glad to be here. Got my Tacoma back in January from the original owner, a family friend. I’ve had severa Toyotas: an 08 Highlander that went I went 250k before trade in and currently we also have a ‘21 4Runner as our family vehicle. For the Taco, I went with the 2021 Access Cab SX with the 2.7 and 4x4. My uncle and cousin each have (tastefully) built up 2.7 SR access cabs, so it’s kind of a family thing. For me, it was between the 2.7 3rd gen access cab or a 4.0 2nd gen… Am I allowed to say that here? I’m happy with where we landed. And I was fortunate to find a matching ARE Z right off the bat.
The original owner put 68k on it and stayed on top of oil changes, but otherwise just drove it. So I’ve been going through everything and changing out fluids and such. Been a ball honestly. Just did both diffs and t-case. Fortunately everything has looked pretty clean so far.
We do a lot of fishing and some hunting, so it’s good to have a truck around again. I won’t be doing a major wheeling build, but do foresee some mods down the road to make this into a more suitable fish wagon. Slight level, bump up a tire size, some light skids. We have some rough service roads and canoe launch type spots that this will really help us with.
Glad to be here and look forward to learning!
