Muffler considerations

So I used to have an 02 Ranger with a 4.0 and I had a Flowmaster 40 installed and the resonator deleted. I enjoyed the aggressive tone and volume of the muffler. I would like to do a similar install on my Taco while using as much stock piping as possible. I have a fancy TRD tip from the previous owner installed and I like it. Has anyone installed a Flowmaster 40 or similar?

What size did you get? What style inlet/outlet did you use? Where did you install it in the exhaust system?

I'd say keep it factory diameter or 2.25" - 2.5".
Just don't want to lose backpressure. Would lead to HP loss.
Where in Central PA are you?

Ideally,I'd like to keep it stock looking by just removing the resonator and replace the muffler with my choice of muffler. So keeping size is important to me. I'm in between State College and Harrisburg.

I'm close. Always cool to find people close. I might try to start a small group/community for the area.
