• Welcome to Tacoma3G.com, a free resource for 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma owners!

This website is the passion-project of a USMC veteran/mechanic, @Tyler. I created Tacoma3G.com to share my knowledge of this subject with others and to provide like-minded folks with a comfortable space to ask questions and create 'build threads' within our Tacoma Forums. Now, if the format of this website is confusing to navigate for you, or if you're interested in my full mission and T3G's history, check out the Help and About pages.

mgmyota's TRD off-road build

Visited Colorado this past weekend. Was a fun experience and I would love to go back in the summer.

Time for an update. Been a while since I’ve really interacted on here and I should really get back into it. I just left the military so I’m in the process of looking for work and transitioning my life. Been keeping myself busy with projects as well. Some headrest molle covers went on so I could mount my med kit. I put some meso map lights in. Got my bed stiffeners from Drt fab on as well. And then I got my Sherpa roof rack in and just threw that on a couple days ago. The mods stop until I have a job going again lol

Was doing some basic maintenance today cleaning my maf and throttle body and notice there’s been a decent amount of oil getting into the throttle body. Time for a catch can I guess 🤷🏼‍♂️

I was surprised by the amount of oil my catch can caught...

Installed the state 48 overland front and rear diff breather kit today. Nice little kit and easy to install. Relocated the breather to behind the passenger taillight. Kind of a pain to work up in there but it worked out lol

Took a quick day trip up to Vermont to do a little exploring this past weekend. Beautiful scenery this time of year. Probably going to go back up there this weekend as well.

Not much has changed on the truck lately. I’m planning a handful of things for it next year hopefully. Also should have it paid off finally next year which will be early as well 🙃. More money for mods lol.

Truck will be entering stage 2 this year. JD Fab parts loading. May be more to come...

After buying a dometic fridge, I wanted to hookup a constant 12v supply source in the backseat area. Insert the blue sea accessory panel. Already comes pre-wired, just need to run power and ground. Powertrays actually offers a harness for this panel and it’s very well made so I opted to go with that. Ran the harness from my blue sea circuit breaker panel under the hood, into the firewall and down under all the plastic panels to the back wall. Was a bit of a pain to get the panel to mount back up. There’s a metal re-enforcement bar on the back wall that needed to be notched out a bit to let the panel sit back all the way. That and I was too lazy to pull out the goose gear seat delete lol. Took some finagling but I got it to fit and I think it came out perfect.

Finally got the JD fab parts installed along with DRT fab spindle gussets. Also was able to get the shocks all rebuilt. Truck is feeling revived and much better. With the wheels pushed forward more now, I haven't scraped the tire against the cab mount and rear part of the fender like I was before just doing normal driving, even with +3 degrees of caster and a BMC. I'm happy with the outcome. Maybe next year I can push to their long travel. This was a good start though.

Pulled off the bump stop mounts today to give those a good revive while the bumps are being rebuilt. I absolutely hate the corrosion we have to deal with here 🙄. I miss the desert for that aspect. Cleaned up the frame and will clean up and possibly powder coat or just spray paint the mounts.

Got my Baja s2’s wired up this weekend. Also installed the molle panel at the head of the bed. Hopefully I can get the pro eagle jack mounted next. Got at least a couple trips coming up so just trying to knock some stuff out. Need to get my bump stops thrown back on next once the mounts are cleaned up
