I have a 21 SR, no fender guards, no mud flaps, and I don't want a lift or leveling. I found 17 x 8.5 0 offset wheels I want to have installed with Falken Wildpeaks AT3Ws, either 265/70s or 265/65s. The dealer claims they will rub because of the offset, and also depends on the alignment. Anyone have experience and can confirm rub or no rub with these sizes?

What is the offset of a stock wheel? A stock wheel is 7.5 I think.

Factory

SR – 16x7(?) et30
SR5 – 16x7(?) et25
TRD SPORT – 17x7.5 et30
TRD OFF ROAD – 16x7 et25
TRD LIMITED – 18x7.5 et30
TRD PRO – 16x7 et13

25mm different is 1" out. So think about turning. The inside and outside of the tire's rubbing point.

I'm running Method 703 with 0 offset and I SWEAR I have better turning radius than with the stock TRDOR wheels.

Thank you for this detailed information, it helps tremendously.

bonifacio, when you say "Will Rub – Adjustments Needed" for instance you're talking about when you're driving it may rub if you hit a bump or turn too sharp correct ?

Yeah, that it will rub with more weight or height travel or rub when turning.

Adjustments would be caster forward and slight modifications. If you rub on the cab mount, you're gonna have to do the chop.

Most of ^^^^^^ information is WRONG

Most of ^^^^^^ information is WRONG
Can you elaborate on what’s wrong with it? Those of us with no experience may end up using the info, but if it’s wrong for some articulable reasons maybe we shouldn’t.. the way it’s presented I’m inclined to accept it and refer back to when I end up getting newer, bigger tires…

Ignore Tape.

Bonifacio’s post has good info while keeping in mind certain parameters:

1. Due to manufacturing deviations, wheel & tire combo’s will fit our trucks slightly different.
2. Offset changes fitment more than anything.
3. Tire sizing is nominal. So one tire manufacturers 305 could be another tire manufacturers 295, etc.

So post some correct information. We're all here to learn and share, and most of us have the humility to recognize our limitations.

😂 like I said, most of us ;)

Glad to see you back around, Nicky. Missed your cask strength truth poured on straight, no chaser.
Just doing my part to send the bozo’s back to TacomaWorld.

Thank god that tape fuck is gone. Hopefully the other members that posted here helped you out. If you need any other help with anything don’t be afraid to post. This is the friendliest forum I’ve ever seen to be honest. That tape person doesn’t represent the lot of us

Gonna go with a 255/80/17 tire on my O.R. (as I cant find a 255/85/16 that suits my needs).

Does anyone know if the black 17" OEM TRD rims offset will cause rubbing? Thought I heard they are a +25 offset, but dont quote me.

Also have a 2/1" Lift. Could that also change things??

The Tacoma resources of a collective shows you should be fine. I'd do the minor hammering and molding. Smacking down the pinch weld and pushing the plastic. Nothing major. Also just safe to do that. For lift, the higher, the more clearance in most cases. +25/30 offset you're still inside.
