Yeah, but I wouldn’t bother to V8 swap my Taco. However, if they had a V8 option when I bought it I would have absolutely chose that.
 
AEV Conversions made 4dr Jeep pickups, called "Brutes," for years before Jeep came out with the JLT and they offered V8 and Hemi upgrades. They also mod Ram trucks and throw on 37s and 40s. I'm glad to see that Jeep finally caught on.

On the Taco side of things, AEV also makes wheels for Tacomas...

I'd take an OEM twinned V6 in our trucks all day over an OEM V8
 
I'd love to swap an electric powertrain into my CJ5. Just waiting for someone to make a kit in the sub 5k range

On that note, did you see the JL hybrid reveal? I don’t know how I felt about those specs.
 
I'm going to say something... and it may seem controversial: Jeeps drive like total garbage. I couldn't be happier stepping into my Tacoma from my JKU.

I get that the Jeep will likely always be slightly more capable out of boxoff road and all that but hell no. I'm done pretending it's fun to drive a car that is so bloodthirsty

I don’t know too much about tuned engines and engine sizes and stuff. But there must be a reason why they went V8 over other options? Idk.
 
I like it! I don't know if would actually come to fruition but its good to see big auto companies at least thinking about making something new and cool. I love Toyota 4x4s but I don't think they've ever done anything for enthusiasts?

Totally agree about Toyota. Toyota 4x4 and Jeep are legendary. But Jeep delivers to its enthusiasts all the time. Even the 5-7 concept Jeeps that they build every year for Easter Jeep Safari is something. They are spending all that money just to entertain us, and it always does.

Toyota 4x4 are rock solid trucks. But they need to spice something up. And not for the common consumer. For the minority of us that have a passion for these trucks.

I expect this is because enthusiasts like us are only a small portion of the people who buy Tacos. Think about how many you see out on the road as work trucks. On the other hand, Jeeps are not work trucks at all. The only person crazy enough to buy a Jeep is an enthusiast because they are not practical in any way. Again, I say this as a long time Jeep owner. That said, these people who buy Jeeps and never take the tops off...WTF is wrong with them? They are missing the whole point.
 
If finances allow, I'll definitely be interested. Really enjoyed my previous JL, more power would be icing on the cake.

this time around, though, the Jeep will be a second vehicle. As a primary it breaks too much 🤑☠️
 
As much as I hate to say it, I wouldn't be shocked if the 4th gen taco more closely resembled the Honda truck.
I did read that the the land cruiser may be re-imaged as a "budget friendly" (what ever that means) dedicated 4x4 to compete with the new bronco and jeep. Might be cool but guessing it would heavily rely on the aftermarket to help it reach its full potential similar to the FJ cruiser.

Not complaining about toyota. They make an awesome product! Just not sure if they have an interest in competing for customers in the overland/4x4 community.

About the last part: Long Island, NY is the WORST with that type of Jeep owner. Three options:

1. A rich 17 year old white girl whose parents bought it as her first car
2. A rich while 50 year old Karen that bought it as a status symbol
3. A total bro douche paid to have it fully built

I fear the same for the 4th gen. Taco. I really hope they keep it a truck. Body on frame.
 
Seriously considering the 392. Have been since I first heard about it. One badass vehicle and not as fragile as the Taco.

True state IF you start going mod crazy. Stock Jeeps drive like Jeeps. Fine until you create a geometric nightmare. The 392 fits my needs right out the gate. No mods. Jus sayin👍🏾
 
I rolled a friends Jeep, years ago. Place called Quad ave, back in the day outside of Baltimore. Wicked hill clime and some trails through the river, Never been a fan of Jeeps since then

The stock roll bar obviously helps. I plan to do a full cage on my Taco some day. I want to eventually push it hard because I enjoy being reckless but I should probably not die in the process.
