Guys,

I plan to lift my truck, I’m going to be doing some light/medium off-roading up here in NH on some logging roads during hunting season.

I want to lift and put big tires on but don’t want to CMC the truck! What can I do to avoid this?

Thanks

PS. I am new to Tacoma’s so don’t shit on me, this is my first midsized truck, all my others have been full-size

I ran 255 86r16s (33s) with about 2.5" lift for a while. I did a good amount of wheeling and utility miles during that time and it was a good combo! If your looking to run bigger tires my biggest piece of advice would be to run narrow tires and keep your wheel offset+backspace as close as possible to OEM spec.

Yeah I mean honestly, some say you can bump the tire slightly to what I think 265/75/16? You can do the skinnies 255/85/16, are they bigger tires??! they are taller 33s, but skinny so yes with the right offset/backspace etc you can run those. Lastly, its very truck dependent as well, some ppl say one thing others say another. But if you want truly bigger tires, 285/75/16, lift and cmc is gonna be needed even tho again, ppl will say oh look at me I'm running 285s no lift no rub...BS

I've been offroading for over a year now with my setup, and I only rub on the plastic inner fender, never the Cab Mount. I don't know what makes it so special, but I have 285/70/17 with 0 offset wheels.

The best way is to not do it and ignore the rib if it happens;)
