Update 2/13/22!

New to gen3 Tacomas, launched my 2018 Ram and picked up a 2019 TRD Off Road. I had an ‘07 Tacoma that I loved previously, and didn’t care for a daily driver that couldn’t handle the trail. Not going for a crawler, just a daily driver that can double as and overland rig. Looking forward to the build and taking the fam outdoors.

Upgrades:
Console and glove box organizer
“Tacoma” tailgate inserts (black)
Prinsu Rack
Cali LED 40” bar rack
Cali LED ditch lights
Cali LED switches (custom wiring)
OME medium spring 2” lift
Black out badging
BF Goodrich 285/75/16s
Body Armor Highline bumper
Warn 10Klb winch
CBI Bedrack
Alpha RTT
Genesis Dual Batt
Midland MTX115
ARB onboard air
Firestone airbags w/ lower daystar cup

In progress:
Decked system
Wiring harness for accessories
Iceco fridge mount
Kennel mount

Future (still researching ...):
Body Armor pro series rear bumper
Relocate BSM sensors
Sliders
Skid plates
Relocate Y-pipe
Vinyl decals on cab
Ceramic tint
.... aaaand a Magnuson supercharger

Nice to have you around. Check out my build for some info. I've got some of the things you're looking at, and I'm attempting to stay more of a sleeper build than a "ooohh, you're lifted!"

The OME lift (update)

Lift and tires are in. The medium OME 2” lift settled out close to 3”. Bumper and winch up next, will see how she sags. Ride is not too stiff but I’m also not too picky about those things. Definitely have the 25mph vibe, so I will be looking into a straight driveshaft swap. Still waiting on the matching OME UCAs… so at full lock the BFGs just kiss the front of the stock UCAs. Checking the ‘ol parking lot flex, there seems to be good clearance otherwise.

Spent some time wiring up the new switches and power boxes. Pulled control power from the USB power supply in the cab, so lights won’t be on without it being in accessory. The dust/water resistant bus bar and fuse/relay boxes were a pain to assemble, and didn’t have a provision for smaller control wires… so I crimped and soldered a lot of the connections. Waiting in a few parts to come in, so for now the only thing that lights up are those bright Cali LED switches.

Bumper install over last weekend. Took about 2 hours, hardest part was taking apart all the plastic body clips.

Bedrack and RTT. Have a trip planned this month, should get some nicer pics!

The weight bringing down the OME rear leaf springs to design ride height resolved the 25mph vibe, which is nice because the drive shaft monies will be spent on air bags for when she’s loaded up all the way.

Man, I want to go where your avatar was taken.
It was nice, that was near Lassen National Park that was wiped out by the fire last year. Haven’t been back yet, hopefully Antelope Lake survived.

Here’s a couple of shots from the fire lookout tower.

Oh! I love that area. Last year I camped near Wilson Lake about a month before the fire went through there

Little behind… and missing some progress pics, but here is the dual battery setup. People go fancy on the batteries, just rocking a couple of AGM Marine/RV deep cycle. They are half the cost, and still have a 4 year warranty so I wasn’t too worried. FYI you CANNOT change the charging voltage of the alternator without OV tune, the old resister trick doesn’t work since gen 3 is controlled by the ECU (lessons learned, research first). In the interim, a 5amp Amazon special will be conditioning the batteries every quarter or so until I work up the courage (and pay down the credit card…) to pop for the OV tune.

If anyone wants some tips hit me up. I’d recommend checking figment no less than 3 times, get an Amazon special rivet tool, and the fancy drill bits with the 13/32 drill bit for the 1/4-20 hardware.

And I finally wired up the air compressor that has been bolted to the CBI mount for two months. I used the supplied wiring harness for the pressure control end, but with the E locker I omitted the wiring loom for the master, forward, aft switch setup (kept it if I ever want a front air locker…). The control power for the switches are powered by an aux 12V supply that only on with ignition, so the start button does this job just fine.

Shock testing the overland rig. Apparently I need to get the kids out on the trail more often!

I finally pulled the trigger on a switch pro. I can say it is freaking awesome to turn on the 12VDC to the truck bed and light off my electric blanket, from the comfort of my sleeping bag using blue tooth.

I had a custom fuse/relay setup that I spent a few weekend wiring and it worked great, just didn’t like the 4 switch limit I had going.

FYI - don’t buy stuff from CaliRaised Off-road, part didn’t fit and the support team argued with me about the return. I even sent pics comparing OEM to aftermarket measurements with a caliper. I don’t mind when there are manufacturing issues, stuff happens… just own it and send me another part!

So now I have the SDQH panel. A little trimming required on the back, but nothing major.
