Finally got a Taco | Camper, Roadtripper

HOLY POOP...
Yep. Front, rear, two on the left, two on the right, and two in the roof. I was expecting the roof ones to be the worst with aluminum shavings raining down. But it turns out the rest were just as bad in their own ways. I didn't have the energy to start framing the windows in but I have the tube stock ready to go. Honestly, the rest of the cap will be easy compared to this

I used to work on aluminum semi trailer, so I know the experience. Your topper is looking really good. All that nautral light should make the effort worth it!

Just a quick update. I mounted my fire extinguisher in the cab (no picture yet) and made progress on framing the cap. I had to evict a squatter in the process...

I tested my fridge/battery/solar combo while camping this weekend. I only did one night because the temps were a bit too low for me and the weather started to get worse on day 2. But based on what I could tell it'll work nicely. I had it hooked up to a small AGM I use to run an insect trap so when I install a proper secondary battery it should be even better.

I try to leave sites better than I found them but this time that meant cleaning up what felt like half a car. Not pictured are the bottles and brass I tossed into the camp trashbag.

Oh! 1000 bonus points for whoever can identify the source of that flag on my gear in the solar panel picture. Hint: I use it as cultural camouflage and it's never been flown by the US.

It looks like the Cowpens Flag of the Third Maryland Regiment during the Revolutionary war.

I haven't been doing much to my truck this summer. But I changed the cabin filter and engine oil today. Check out the cabin filter after 9k miles:

When I fired it up after replacing it I actually thought "what's that smell?" Clean. Clean is what it smells like.

Welp, I got this thing aligned and I'm glad I did. Although I'm not very good at interpreting alignment values, I suspect the toe was causing mild highway squirrelliness. I sprang for the lifetime alignment at Firestone since it seemed like a good deal in my case. How often do the folks who off-road get theirs aligned?

I get mine done as needed and about every 10k miles. More often if I take a big trip where I've beat the crap out of the suspension.

Alright, quick update.

1. Mounted front camera underneath. Seemed like a good use for the extra camera in the Anytime Backup kit. It'll help me not break my truck as fast when I'm out having fun. But durability might be an issue since it's mounted to the rear differential. I had a separate thread for that here.

2. Put an OEM air filter back in. The K&N seemed like a good idea at the time but then I learned things. Out it comes!

3. I got my exhaust rerouted. This has been on my mind for months so I'm happy. I highly recommend Rpm Muffler and Fabrication in Dixon, CA for anyone in the area looking to get this done. Very fast, great price. Also, BONUS DOG!

Hey folks, long time no post. The truck's been great, only some basic stuff so far. I've been camping a lot with it and trying things out. I'm so happy with how it is now, I can't believe it.

Replaced the shocks, which I should have done sooner because they went bad. I actually went with OEM but I'll probably get something else next time. The suspension feels great as-is so it depends on how these last. I've had a dual battery system for some time now for a fridge and to run lights for insect collecting. It worked well but I recently integrated an Auxbeam 6 gang into it that someone gave me and a lithium battery I bought. I'm going to test this new configuration on a trip soon. I also got an RCI engine skid and I'm pretty happy with it. Oh, and I got OTT at mild/medium flashed and it feels fantastic. I'll get some pictures up later, I'm under the weather and so tired...

Anyway, how's everybody else doing?
