Does anyone know if disconnected battery for 30 mins will clear engine light? Someone fueled up my truck and never tightened gas cap and when it got to 1/4 tank the light came on. If it clears it but comes back on I’ll try and book it in. Only reason I ask is, it’s like pulling teeth to get an appointment. They are sooo busy

It'll go away on it's own if it's just the gas cap. The ECU after certain parameters runs a check on emissions and if no faults it'll clear.

Also some local autoparts stores may scan and clear your codes but it depends on local laws.

Disconnecting the battery for like 30 seconds (less actually) will clear the check engine light.

I have to do it frequently due to my aftermarket stereo system.

wha??? curious how your stereo is setting off a CEL!?!
