Anyone else build their own camper?

Getting started on one. Not going to be able to sleep inside. It’ll be a box with a rack on top for the tent.

I can’t zoom in enough to see the brand on the shower enclosure curious what brand it is, and what you think about it. Also, what brand and size box you got the water heater in there?

Damn I never really considered building a trailer but if it came out looking this damn good I'd be working on it now. Looking at this I wouldn't even think its a home built

I've been considering buying a inTech RV Flyer, they run around 15- $20,000 new and I could probably build one for half that. "probably":giggle:
I think youll be surprised how expensive building these little trailers can get...Ive built 2 of them in 2019 and for reference each of them costed around 10-14K to build (Same trailers as I posted earlier).
....Materials and high-end parts aren't cheap

If I were to build an overland trailer again it would copy what Turtleback Trailers builds. They have (in my opinion) the best setups for this industry.

Love this thread. I am also considering building a trailer. One project I want to get started in 2021.

What size is this trailer? Definitely want to start from the ground up like this.

Not a camper, but I ordered a Tuffstuff Alpha ll RTT to add to it.
This winter, I am doing some work on the box, adding an area for the fridge and some suspension work on the trailer and maybe a bit more if time allows.
The box is removable, so I could add a sleeping box to it later, but for now it carries everything I want for travel, has about 50k miles on the trailer frame (M416 specs).

Rebuilt a M100 Jeep trailer. Great set up. Tows perfect. Leaves truck free to wheel. Still shaking out the bugs.

Nice trailers! New guy here. Just finished my DIY off-road trailer about a month ago. Mine is 5x8 and 13' long as well. I went the 3/4 birch plywood/PMF route. Working on a RTT bed rack now. Building yourself is way better than buying!

I started mine a few years ago and as you know it's a never ending process. Started with a custom frame from DV Trailers in Stanton, CA and built my own box out of apple ply and aluminum skin. I thought it was too bouncy so I changed the spring from 2500# to 1500#. That was a mistake. Busted a spring in Death Valley near Geologist Cabin. Limped it all the way home and put the original springs back on and haven't had an issue since. Here are few pics from the build. These pics are when I was running 315's to match my old rig. I designed to go up the 37's but haven't needed them. Right now I'm running 33's and it has plenty of ground clearance.

I originally thought I would have my own tent made to my specs, but when I got the price, The CVT Mt. Mazama was a much better deal. Heavy canvas, four season tent. We've used in 15 degree temps with a Mr. Buddy heater and had no complaints from the boss.

Next add, BRAKES! Definitely brakes.

Great job and Thanks for the pics!
