Conversion to LED bulbs in stock headlamps and foglamps

2018YodaTaco

1️⃣ Getting Started...
Two weeks ago I installed new LED bulbs from SUPERBRIGHTLEDS in my 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. The conversion was incredible no need for auxiliary lights as these plug and play bulbs are much brighter (5000 lumens per pair) and much whiter 6000K. I am very happy with the upgrade and the only issue was access to the fog lights which required partial unbolting of the inner front fender liner. There are no issues with the beam pattern as the projector low beams have the same sharp cutoff and the high beams cover the entire road. The fog lights cover the road in front of the truck from ditch to ditch

I did the same - put in Sylvania LEDs. My fog lights are illegal, I'm pretty sure. People are constantly flashing their high beams when I have low beams on and the fogs...

The issue with the factory reflector fogs is they don't have cutoffs, so when you put a more intense bulb in them you start blinding people from the glare. There are many pnp led fog options now that have incredible output and are very legal. I'm running the DD Elite fogs and they're absolutely fantastic.

Re: led swaps in the headlights, the Hikari's and the GTR's have the best output in the factory halogen projectors, but a common swap is replacing with an H9 halogen as it's the same physical bulb as the H11, just has higher output. I first did an led headlight bulb swap when I got the truck, but even with upgraded bulbs, I found the stock projector output to be dismal. I scrapped the housings all together after a few months and replaced with Morimoto housings (first the xb gen2's and now the new Evo's) and it is a completely different animal for output. Much much better to drive now that I can see. HIGHLY recommended over just putting leds in these projectors. The OEM leds are also a very nice output upgrade and were the brightest until the new Evo's came out.
