Cold air intake

Condition1

1️⃣ Getting Started...
Good morning all, I’ve installed a Redrock 4x4 cold air intake on my 2019. My check engine light is on and no cruise control, trac off light comes on intermittently. Has anyone else had this happen? Any knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Intake filter may have too much oil and it got on the mass air flow sensor.
You need to clean it with the correct spray cleaner DO NOT USE anything else you will ruin it $$

I don't want to be 'that guy', but this truck really doesn't benefit at all from a cold air intake. If anything, it hurts your performance and causes issues. It's already a Tundra airbox. If you want to improve shifting and throttle response upgrade the filter, replace the fender inlet with the TRD Accelerator and change the tube to a cleaner version. Nothing will make the truck faster really except a tune. The K&N 57-9039 is a perfect intake option but overpriced now - was much better at $150.

Yeah, I've heard of that happening with aftermarket intakes. Sometimes it's a simple sensor issue, maybe the MAF sensor needs cleaning or recalibration after the install. Definitely double-check all your connections too.

A cold air intake is an aftermarket engine component that improves how air flows into your car’s engine. Instead of pulling in warm air from inside the engine bay, it draws cooler air from outside. Cooler air is denser, meaning it contains more oxygen, which helps the engine burn fuel more efficiently.

As a result, a cold air intake can slightly increase horsepower, improve throttle response, and sometimes enhance fuel efficiency. It also gives the engine a deeper, sportier sound, which many car enthusiasts enjoy.

Overall, it’s a simple upgrade often used to boost performance and driving experience without major modifications.

The Gen 3 Tacoma's come with a cold air intake stock. It pulls cool air from the passenger fender. So, for our trucks the benefit of an aftermarket intake systems is not cooler air but improved air flow.
